Pics Needed: Hood Prop Rod

I bought a fiberglass hood and need to fab up a prop-rod.

Can you guys post some pics of how & where your props mount on the radiator support?

Im planning on welding a fender washer on the top like an upside-down ski pole for the hood-pin hole in the hood.

Thanks in advance.

I use the s.s. prop rod available from most vendors. I think I buy them at Mustang Depot. One quick hole and you are done.

^ me too, the top of my prop rod sits in the pass side hood pin hole thru the support and rests on the underside of the hood itself (2 layers on my glass hood, support and hood itself). The horn wires make a nice holder for the rod on the driver side when stowing the rod. sorry no pics, Im at work.

Another option (once you remove the hinge springs) is to take a small length of light gauge chain or a cable and place it where the spring used to hook on the hinge. At the rear, use an "S" hook or one of the threaded repair links to keep the chain attached to the hinge.

Just a thought.

Or you could always make your own hood prob system using some gas struts like on hatch backs. You can easily figure out the correct shock in the length you desire, just figure out the mounting distance, stroke, and lbs it needs to lift.

This company sells lift struts and all the components necessary to build your own:
McMaster-Carr

search lift struts.
