Why black-out the rear of a S197?

dave that paint is awesome. in your sig it has a purpleishblue tint to it. crazy what different lighting can make paint look like from different angles.

do you post on streetfire? i think i remember seeing your sig elsewhere.

Thanks autumn_again. Yes, I'm a regular on the Streetfire.net forum; you may have seen my sig there. Until you mentioned it I never thought about how different the grey color could look depending on the picture.

Your Mustang sounds like a fun car based on the mods you have listed. I'm curious what does the "VB" mean?

vista blue. sig became too long so i decided to try to abbreviate as much as i could haha.

right now in this weather its not too much fun, tires break loose before it gets to fun time. haha but we shall see when it gets above freezing.

what axleback do you have on there? those tips look perfect. i definitely agree with you about the clean look without a blackout panel.

Oh Vista Blue is a great color!

Thanks man, my tips are FFRP GTAs (same model that comes stock on the GT500 and Shelby GT). Here's my amatuer video clip: Just installed Ford Racing Performance Parts (FRPP- Video

Why does anyone make any appearance mod to a car? Because they like the way it looks, and they want the car to look different from stock. If the Mustang had a black rear panel as standard equipment, some people would be painting that panel to match the color of the rest of the body.

Sometimes there is an homage to a prior model.

well....why wouldn't you?

Much as I like the S197, when I bought mine in 2005, the back end looked mighty plain:

I used SHR parts and chrome bezels to give it a Mach 1 look along with a GT500 spoiler:

No question in my mind which looks better.

I started with a magnetic panel but after a week I gave it away - the quality of the SHR panel is in another universe.

Because this...

Looks better than this...
