So, my car will be going into the body shop soon to have the cowl hood painted and mounted. While it's there, I've been toying with the idea of having a non-trashy spoiler put on it as well. The only spoiler I've ever seen that I've liked for a coupe or a vert has been the ASC McLaren spoiler that came on those cars. I suppose what I'm looking for is the following:

A) Are there any aftermarket companies that reproduce this spoiler for cheaper than a NOS or used one? How rare is this part, is ebay or classifieds my only hope? I saw the spoiler listed on ASCMcLaren.com for well over $300 and is listed as being available only by phone. Is this my only hope?

B) Opinions on how this spoiler would look on my '91 coupe. Please refrain from just mindlessly flaming or ranting about body mods on a coupe, as the look I'm going for here is tasteful, different, and OEM-like. All constructive criticisms/opinions are welcomed, however.

Here are some pics to judge from:

As you can see I've put some thought into this and researched a little... I'm not looking to bolt on a two-story aluminum wing to provide downforce on the rear tires of my front wheel drive, 95 horsepower, honda civic, here. :rlaugh: Thanks guys.

Chris

Looks like a brake light with a little extra trim attached to it. It's not bad, but makes the car look cheap (obviously imo).

The gull wing spoiler might be an option. Its not too high and fits nicely on a coupe. Here is the same car with both spoilers:

I have always liked that spoiler, I have also been thinking about putting one on my vert. I have wondered what it would look like with the brake light shaved and I think I like that look. I have never seen one on a coupe though but it is low key and probably would look decent on there.

thanks for the replies guys, any more opinions/info floating out there in cyberspace?

Devus1, i know you and i got off to a bad start and I'm sorry about that. I was having a bad day and the level of sarcasm from you kinda threw me for a loop, haha. What is the name of the spoiler you showed in the second pic you posted?? It kinda looks like the ASC McLaren spoiler without the brake light. Any more info is appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

Here is the thread where I found it, might be able to PM the guy:

Thanks Devus, I checked out that thread, cool car, but Corral wont let me PM the guy for some reason, he referred to the spoiler as an "ASC McLaren replica" he scored off another member

I wasnt aware "replicas" of this spoiler were made, hopefully someone on here knows where to find them, as a google/yahoo/ask.com search has yielded absolutely nothing...

I think the ASC spoiler doesnt look good with the third brake light, if I had a coupe Id get one with out it. Info on where to get the replica would be awesome.
