5.3l lsx in 65 stang

I don't think you've read any of my posts.

You're asking for specifics on a board that has never done what you're asking. You're asking for specifics regarding a swap that would be completely custom where you'd have to pull out a ruler and a welder. You're getting offended for the wrong reasons. I am willing to bet that you'd get generally the same answers if you posted a thread on LS1.com regarding fitting a 390 FE into a '97 Camaro.

The pictures you posted above, the guy is doing all the work by himself in his garage using circle track parts, his personal know how, a ruler, a welder, and a budget. We (I at least) have no doubts about the potential of the LS based motor, but if you're serious about it, you need to get on your hands and knees and get a little dirty or drop the car off at a shop to have the swap done.

ok maybe i should take a step back and clarify what i intended to get out of my original post...

i was wondering if anybody had experience putting a lsx in an early stang. that was it, bottom line.

Mustang1969 its not that i was'nt reading your posts it just seemed like you were being short. simply stating that i'm gonna need custom this, this, and that is really no help if your not being specific. And i was'nt aware that stock c5 suspension parts are one off circle track parts.

That would have been a much better question. With the answer thus far being nobody.

I wasn't being short, I was answering your question. You asked a fairly general question and I gave you fairly general answers, but I am also fairly certain the answers I gave are correct. I can't really direct you to Mustangs Plus or CJ Pony Parts or any other cookie cutter restoration or performance parts website or tutorial, because there aren't any for this application. I was more or less telling you the fab work you or some shop would end up doing. You didn't like the answer, with which I do not apologize.

well i have seen a 64 falcon with the swap and it was necesarry to do the m2 but i think that i would prefer the new aje setup maybe they could make a special LSx k member rather than sbf.

Read: Special = Expensive. And that blows the whole 'being cheap on a budget' out of the water.

We're not against you because it's a chevy motor, but because you talk about wanting to be cheap but will be needing a lot of custom fabrication to make it all fit.

On a side note: I'm personally a firm believer in keep a ford engine in a ford and a chevy in a chevy. I love ford's, but would never put a sbf into a chevy. I also agree that the lsx is a stout motor. Dont be on the defensive, you asked for help, people will give it too you. It may not all be constructive and unbiased, but it's the internet and it's free so what do you expect?

Just because it could be accomplished, doesn't mean it should be attempted.

I am biased, I don't like chivy's, and I think it is a bad idea.

That having been said, it's your money. However, when you know what you can do with a Ford engine for the same amount of money, I'm pretty sure you could be better/faster/stronger/ with a stroked 351W based product.

That has been done successfully, and for a lot less effort!

i feel like i could have gotten the same answer out of a cracker jack box

And here I am thinking from your earlier posts that you are just a little naive - so I spend time trying to help you understand the scope of what you're proposing, and the amount of shop equipment $$ (or farmed out labor) you may have to spend to complete your "cheap" project. I'm assuming you don't have that stuff, otherwise you wouldn't be on an internet message board asking for advice; you would just plan and start the work. That's what someone with more knowledge and ability would do.

I still think you're naive, but now I also realize I'm wasting my time trying to stuff information into that little head of yours.

I think you should start the project tomorrow. Good luck!

Can't say for sure on this, but I think it will fit just fine within the stock shock towers. This is based off dimensional information on the net.

LS1 dimensions

Engine Dimensions

351W dimensions

I would imagine that it will bolt up just fine. The T56 will probably cause you some issues with the trans tunnel (that depends more on motor placement then anything).

Just as an FYI, the AJE front suspension setup wouldn't be custom for an LS1, they use a common engine cradle, then the mounts themselves are the only difference between motors. I have their setup and am installing an 03 Cobra motor in my 70 Fastback. When I spoke with them, they mentioned they could supply motor mounts for any application, no cost increase.

Now that has to be the single most helpful thing out of all this negativity=- definatelty gonna check it out, thanks

No problem, glad I could help. I gave doing an LS1 swap a few thoughts before I decided on the 03 Cobra motor, I just couldn't quite talk myself into it. Would have been a ton cheaper and easier to do then what I'm doing. ;)

Good luck with the project, sounds like it should be a fun one when done.

boss302 = $3500+ just for the short block but thanks for the advice

heres of few shots of the falcon
