should i bother to dyno tune

I did my engine work probably 3 years ago, but ive been at school and the car has maybe been driven 5k since then, just no time, but Im thinking about tuning because it has been running pretty bad ever since. I have a lot of shuddering, hesitation and misfire.

mods are:

cold air
pro-m 75mm
24# inj
70mm TB
cobra intake
ported E7s
cobra manifold
steeda 19 cam
full exhaust
gears
underdrives
king cobra clutch
nothing else noteworthy

so I know its an extremely mild combo, but all I can afford, but anyway, is it worth it to dyno tune?

Shouldn't need a dyno tune. There is something else wrong with the car that needs to be fixed first before you dyno tune it anyway.

Shouldn't need a dyno tune at all, just need to go through it, how bad does the fuel smell from sitting for so long? It probably needs to have a new fuel filter for sure at the least. Have you dyno'd your setup? It's almost identical to the setup I'm going for.

but it sounds like u have a few mechanical issues,..plugs/wires/ vacuum lines..or what not

adress those first:nice:

my dyno tune helped for differnet reasons..

stalling..coming to stop lights etc
smoothed out the idle a ton..even though the cam chop was cool,its not neccasry

well, I had a new set of plug wires, and bad misfire, I took a look at them, and one of them had burned pretty much the whole way through, that fixed the misfire for a while, but not the hesitation and shudder, but now the misfire has returned. I was thinking about replacing my (stock) coil and tfi and see if that helped any, but have not gotten around to it yet.

Fuel smell is pretty bad at idle after a couple of min. Fuel filter has been replaced within the last 5k miles. Have not dynoed yet either.

I was also thinking of having the vaccum pressure checked.

As well I cannot stop blowing header gaskets on the driver side, I dont know why, have blown 3 in the past year and a half, any ideas there?
 
I didn't see what kind of headers you have, but saying you have full exhaust I'm assuming you have aftermarkets on there.

And as with most aftermarket headers, you have to use a different bolt and some tend to back out alot, which causes blown header gaskets. If you use aftermarket headers, it's best to run a set of copper gaskets. I hear they last forever...
 
they are the ford racing ones, i think 8mm.

Sounds like the issue. The motorsport wires, MSDs, and the Moroso wires are known to have problems right out of the box. I would go ahead and test the wires for total resistance and test for leaks. You might want to just go ahead and get some Taylor wires, or some Accels.

alright, so im getting the exhaust leak fixed, and while they were there turns out my valve covers were leaking oil big time, and where my lower intake had been chipped and had a piece come off three years ago, apparently the guy that re-weld it effed it up big time and its been causing a vaccum leak ever since. So I went ahead and told them to put another cobra intake on (its what i had, and what I can afford, so nothing better unfortunately) and then they are going to do a "manual tune" and play with the A/F ratio and timing on it without touching the cpu on monday. So after all that is finished ill post another update and post my (what will probably be) embarrassing dyno numbers.
 
i had a similiar situation and it came out to be the spark plug boot was touching the header. the header was creating a hole on the spark plug boot. i bought some boot cover wrap, covered the the hole with silicone, wrapped it and it cured the problem
