Just wanted to share that our dealership just got an 08 Bullitt.

I was very interested to see what Ford did for this go round of the Bullitt.

I must say I was dissappointed...

Firstly, the car stickers at 32, 1xx. And the Bullitt package is a 3200 option.

Granted with that package you get interior pieces like a diamond plate looking dash , 373's, 18in wheels, and "baffled" exhaust tips.

The seats seem more "plush" that a normal GT, the steering wheel is similar to a GT500, a cold-air kit, strut bar w/ serial #, and HID's round the car out pretty much.

I knew the car wasn't going to be something absoutly amazing, but I think Ford could have done so much better. Was this Ford's plan all along, or did they just not committ that much from the start?

They did more than that. The car rev's higher than the normal GT and has engine enhancements that make the car respond better throughout the RPM range. It is greatly limited in traction at the tires. If anything Ford should have put better grip on it and it really smokes.

The tires are the same width as a normal GT; 235's.

Here's a web-site; all my pics were on my cellphone camera.

Pokageek, I was getting at how the internet/press hype was high, and then seeing it in real life it just wasn't what I expected.

Ahh. Well I haven't seen it in person or really seen any of the press but the true test might be to drive it and then decide. I understand it really is a lot different to drive it. forgot to mention the sound is supossed to be a lot different too. I hear ya though. I will check ut your pics. Thanks for posting them!

p.s. I bet they don't just let anyone test drive it either ..like it is some sort of queen ,lol. (not to be confused with McQueen -lol)

The S197 stangs just haven't grown on me yet, except for the Super Snake and KR.

Not enough to sway me from liking the 03/04 Cobra which can be had for low to mid $20Ks and many at under 30K miles. Heck, I still can't make the decision to replace my 94 stang, because I'm totally satisfied with the handling/ride/braking, plus another $10K on a new N/A motor will probably give me more power/fun than a new stang.

As with the 01 Bullitt, this new Bullitt is about the same: better than a GT to some degree, more badging, but still missing something (maybe a better wheel/tire combo)? Just not my thing, I guess. The Mach 1 was cool, but only the 03/04 Cobra was enough of a distraction to cause me to think twice about selling my stang. I like doing mods here and there a little at a time, but a new car would kill that.

Too bad the Roush 427R stang is a bit pricey. Really nice from what I've read.

I got to drive the car for a few miles today, and it doesn't run bad with the 3.73's.

I did also find out it's rated at 319 hp.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Bullitt needs something like 340-350 hp.

Just to set it apart from the others like the stock GT's and Shelby GT's.

I agree, cause you can throw a cheap cold air kit and axle back exhaust to get the few extra ponies and sound that they advertise in the bullitt... It has the style, obviously, of the old school bullitt, but needs more go!

well, u better just get the vette then, because a 30 thousand dollar stang will never be on the same level as a 65 thousand dollar vette..never...cant even Begin to compare a gt vs a c6

It's not comparing the cars to each other, but finding the value in the product and whether or not the price is worth it.

Sure the Mustang is the cheaper car, so naturally you can't expect it to perform as well. But IMO, it should be cheaper than it is. All the dealers by me order up their GT coupes with so many options they're pushing $30K. Sorry, but if brushed aluminum interior panels don't make the car go faster, they better S my D or else they're not worth $800 or whatever Ford charges.

Just out of curiousity, which permutation of the 4.6 is in this 08 Bullitt; is it the 4-valve head and iron block, or blower on a 3-valve head, 2-valve head on an aluminum block, or............?
(And does it have the variable cam timing?)
