I'm curious to why my stangs pops when slowing down only. I have a 2000 GT with a off road mid pipe and cat back. cold air ported throttle. Some of my friends thinks its not a good thing and hope someone on here can educate me thanks.

I know I hear the crackling from the exhaust but also when after going WOT and then slowing down quickly I hear a pop and I have a friend who saw some spark I guess so is that from engine.

I have it tune to 91 oct who knows I dont think anything is wrong it has 160,000 miles but my coworkers think its not normal. i maintain it fix whatever needs fixing I can do most of the work but trouble shooting is not my specialty. It may need a tune I think the air and fuel may be off but I dont want to spend money doing that when I will be taking the engine out and replacing it with a aluminum block n a year or two so I will drive it till than or when it goes out. I'm just curious what causing this and to see what others on here might know.

ok, from what i understand, it should be somewhat normal. My car does it more noticably in the morning, or when its cold. Supposedly due to the face that the Cats are still cold, and when the exhaust hits it, it isnt hot enough to burn off the excess exhaust. But it tends to go away after its warmed up.
