Quick questions for the stock AOD guys....

my rpms were a bit higher with 3.27 gears. But only a few hundred rpm. I wouldn't worry much there. "Won't shift into fourth". How fast were you going to conclude this with the 2.73's? Light speed?

something sounds wrong. seems like its shifting too early.

my brother has a mustang and its a 2.73 AOD car, if shifts out of first at 5000 and 2nd at around 4800 ( according to stock tach)

and since its a stock engine it doesnt have enough power to even top out 3rd gear..

120mph lol, nothing near light speed.

It will never shift into OD at WOT. At WOT a stock valve body will not let it. I'm assuming those shift points are at WOT, if so they are low. Check the TV cable to make sure it's connected and adjusted correctly. Mike

Hmmm seems like I have an issue then.
My goat is a 6 speed I dont have these stupid little problems!:flag:

Ok so I made a valiant attempt at adjusting the TV cable but could only get the opposite results of what I was looking for.

I successfully made it shift earlier and softer, but for the life of me no matter how I set it I could not get it to shift firmer or higher. WTF.

You should be able to just remove the clip, then while you are holding the linkage, pull the end of the cable out just a little more then re-insert the clip.Just don't pull it out too much or way too little otherwise damage may occur later on down the road (so I've heard). The more the TV cable is pulled on the higher the shift points will be.Even if you are just barely stepping on the gas. What you're looking for is a shift kit, which either replaces the valve body or replaces a spacer with cutouts to re-direct fluid movement.Your not going to get performance shifting out of a stock AOD valve body. That thing was only designed for the average commuter putzing around town.

I must have not pulled it out far enough. Im not looking for performance shifts, the thing is my super low shifts the car makes. I would think that 3800 1-2 shift and a 4000 2-3 shift are way too low.

If the basic internals are ok you can make the AOD a lot more fun to drive. Depending how much you want to spend and what the car's used for. If the engine is going to remain stock a slightly looser converter and shift kit will make a world of difference. When my car had the stock engine in it the AOD would bark the tires in 2nd with a looser converter and shift kit. Again it depends on how you plan to use the car. You could make the TV cable go away and put the OD on a switch with a manual valve body. Mike
