Im sorry because I know this probably is asked alot, but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted.

I have narrowed my choice of vehicles down to either a 99-04 Mustang GT or a 98-02 F-body. Either car would have to be a manual transmission. I know that the LS1 is obviously the faster car stock for stock. I dont care. Im not going to be running the car down the drag strip every day so its not that big of a deal to me.

I want a car that is quick, and most importantly fun to drive. My truck is boring. Its not too slow considering its size, but I want something that handles good and can go run mid 13's if I want. Does anyone have any input on the "driving experience" and how they compare with these two cars? Anything you have to say would be good, from sounds, feel, seating position, etc..., would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help,

Joey

my buddy has a stock 97 T/A

i hate how it drives. doesnt feel very powerful (although it is quite peppy in reality)

the great thing ive always liked about my stang is that (even stock [more or less] it FEELS like is has some balls. this is probably due to the crappy suspension by ford :jester:

just my $0.02

i dont like the camaros look or sound most of the time, but there is always a few

i will take a t/a over the camaro most of the time..

i will take the stang:nice: but i would probably look for a 99-01 cobra over the gt

03 04 cobra but you know u are getting into some $:flag:

I have seen 99/01 Cobras for 10-11K and have even seen Mach1s for as cheap as $9800. Ever think of a 96-98 Cobra? They can be had for well under $10K and will be much nicer and as quick as a LS1 :nice:

that's kind of like asking "what is better blue or orange?" ;)

I'm guessing here on Stangnet most of us preffer the combination of looks, driving experience, reliability and mod-ability that the Mustang offers....if you go to Mulletnet.com they probably preffer the Camrobirds 'cause they're bitchin' and have T-Tops :rlaugh:

:stupid:.... When I drive my friends 99 Z28 although the thing is a hell of alot quicker.... my stang feels like it has more torque and throws you into your seat more than the LS1 when you punch it....That was also before my gears..

If you want a fun overall driver with better handling, and braking, get the 'Stang.

If you want a fast straight line car, that WILL respond to bolt ons, and make rediculous power with just heads/cam/tune then get an LS1 F-body.

Looks are subjective. I think a WS-6 T/A looks just as good as any Mustang on the road, stock for stock.

That is exactly what I want. The one that is better for every day. One more thing, is the Mustang easier to get in and out of than the fbody? Those things do get old with the long doors very low seating position. I don't want to sound like an old man, but for every day stuff it gets a little old.

Thanks,
Joey

A mustang has a much more natural seating positon than a F-body, in a F-body your feet are nearly directly in front of you. Plus low milage F-bodies are hard to find for a decent price, much more bag for your buck to get a GT with the same milage for prolly 3-4k less. Spend the 3-4k in mods. Also mustangs sound 100 times better than f-bodies

Yes, a Mustang is much easier to get in and out of and dosent have that giant bump in the passengers foot well :nice:
Also you can do a tune up in under an hour without braking your back/knuckles/arms and going crazy getting three woble joints to line up on your ratchet :rlaugh:

Their is a very repected member over at Mach1Registry who is selling his 49,000 mile Mach for $11K. It's in the '03-'04 Mach 1's for sale forum. It has a salvage title, but you should check out the thread for better backround on the car and responses from other members. Thread title is" '04 AB 5 speed Mach FS 13K". (Price has been lowered to $11K as of today)

My best advice is to drive each car. THey both have thier pluses and minuses. About 6 months before I bought my 01 gt I drove an 01 ws6 6 speed with long tubes, exhaust and some other bolt ons. I didnt care for it. It was quick, but just did not feel comfertable to me. But thats me, to some they feel wonderful! Thats why you need to drive both and see what feels the best for you. :nice:

Yeah, looking under the hood of an LT1, or LS1 F-Body makes me want to walk away.

No room to do anything, everything is tucked away, or in the way of something it seems. Not to mention the engine is shoved way back into the cabin... hence the mile long dash.

I would go with a 96-98 cobra if i were you, ive seen them selling for 7k and under, and some really pretty ones for 9k (with low miles).

my biggest regret as of now, was not picking up a 96-98 4v..instead i went with an 03gt...just think about it. but either way, i'm sure you'll find the right decision, good luck.

and if you are going with an ls1....ws6 ram-air........t-top...ftw. preferrably red. haha.
