Silver seems to be teh way to go. But doing the VC's and intakes all in silver seems like a bit much. Would be nice to have a little contract.

IMHO, the valve covers and intake should always match or at least carry the same color scheme. Its like the earrings and necklace on a hot girl. Or is that bra and panties? Well sometimes those don't have to match to look good. Maybe bikini top and bottom? That sounds good. I'll stick with that one. End tangent.

Anyway, my vote is for the same color on the intake and VCs. Let the block, plug wires, and other accessories provide contrast.

I vote for Red Valve covers. Red is so sexy. Plus your engine is HOT, so it has to have something RED HOT!

:rlaugh:

How'd you find your way here!!

I can see the point about having it match. I'm still debating picking up some new valve covers. I've seen some nice FR covers that are aluminum with black detailing. If I do the intake the same way, it might look pretty good.

Well here are some pics of how she sits at the moment. Pretty much done scraping gaskets and crap. Tomorrow night I gotta get all the parts ready to take to the powdercoating on Sat morning....then spend this weekend working on cleaning up the bay some. And hopefully next weekend it'll all go back together and I can drive it again!

Just in time for the strips to be opening!

My engine bay is dirty and disorganized, but here it is. It has been powdercoated black chrome on the VC, upper, TB, C&L tube, radiator supports, and a couple of other things. My buddy did it for the cost of the powder.

Looks good! Was the intake chrome to start?

^, cant wait to get my upper and lower back from powder coating!

Is Mustangboy doing it?? If so, I live right down the street from him basically....holler if you come out this way and stop by! :nice:

Well even if its not insured, at least show up in something!!

I didn't know you knew how to take your car apart doc.. :p Factory valve covers might fit, but you'd have to take the baffle out of the passenger side.

I don't. :D

Without the help of my buddy across the street, tearing that down would have taken me forever. Took us like 2 hours. I'm sure I could have done it by myself, but I'd have been labeling all the bolts and chit....he just knows it all by sight. Was a bit of a pain getting some stuff off with the STB still in place, but I had no interest in removing that thing!

See that's the issue with the valve covers....those rocker arms are huge! So they have to clear those, without being any taller or the intake won't fit without a spacer. And I'm afraid if I add a spacer then it won't fit under the hood.

Kind of off topic but... I was always curious as to why the Systemax has such oddly shaped ports.

Flows good though. :D

Well, first off, what kind of rockers are they? They look like crane rockers to me. I have Harland Sharps on trick flow heads and they at least appear to fit under regular trick flow valve covers(or prob stockers if I remove the baffles). Not that I'm recommending trick flow vcs on holley heads. Also, I remember an article in MMFF or 5.0 mustangs where Rick Anderson was installing his hi rev kit with stock cvalve covers. AFM - Reach For The Sky Also, how much room do you have between the intake and hood?

I'd have to check. I saw it on the rocker but wasn't really paying much attention.

My bad....I meant intake and STB. I wish I had paid more attention and actually measured it when it was together. Its not much, that I know.

The VC's I have fit just fine, I was just thinking that if its gonna cost me to have them stripped and powder coated...it might not be much more just to get some new VC's that are already how I want them. But worse case I'll just have these powder coated.

Thanks man, as you can tell I don't know much about my Fox yet! :D

Cost me $100 to have an intake powder coated. I don't know about valve covers though, but I got my new ones for $115 I think? Clearances with strut tower braces? I wouldn't have a clue.. If you did get a set of ford efi covers, I'd assume they would fit with some modification.

This guy sells powder coated stock VC's for like $50 I think.....or will powder coat a set for $30. He's gonna do my upper and lower for $75....not sure how much for the TB and spacer, but can't be much. The valve covers he'd probably charge more since they'll need to be stripped.

I guess I need to find a set that I want and try to find specs on them. Most sites don't list the dimensions....maybe they're all pretty much the same, but I doubt it.

Thats a great price.. VCs are pretty much the same. Short and tall. Have the same bolt pattern(obviously) and cover the same area(again, obviously). The only way they can differ is height. and filler tube/baffles. Minor details.
I wanted these..

But got these..

Hmmm....I've tried doing some research on the web about this Holley intake and keep getting mixed information about VC's.

I'm just afraid to order something that doesn't fit.

What do you think of chrome? These are Holley covers and definetely fit. And are like $80. Perhaps I'll stick with a set of chrome like this, or just have the guy powdercoat the ones I have. Save some money that way that I could use on other mods. :D
