Need help in choosing cam for 351w

The Z303 cam [email protected] with .552 intake and exhaust lift.

Ford Racing Performance Parts [M-6250-Z303*]

Stage 1 Trick flow is 221/[email protected], .499 .510 ,with a 112 deg L/S

STAGE 2 Trick flow is 224/[email protected] .542 .563lift, 112 deg L/S

So the 1.7 rockers will make more lift and may be too much....only way to know is to check the piston to valve clearance with the cam in.

Your intake should be o.k. I didn't see that you had a RPM. It IS at it's limit with a 351 over 5k rpm.....Another intake may help but since you have this I would try it. It will be too small when you go a stroker though.

Do you think the TFS 2 cam with extra duration will be good enough until I build my engine? I am really concerned about the clearance with these 1.7's. What intake would you suggest? I am already running an RPM intake with 75mm throttle. Thanks

heh, "good enough" is a very subjective thing.

for me, the stage 1 with the RPM intake would most likely be "good enough" until it was time to rebuild it. seriously, why tear into it like that now when you are going to yank it all out and redo it next year? i say just leave it as is for now and save the time and money for the rebuild.

the only safe way to know about the clearance is to put it in and check the clearance. do you plan to keep the 1.7s with the stroker motor? if not, you could go to 1.6s now ...
 
Sorry for the delay in replying back. I have a 255 lph pump. I suppose I should wait. Ive had the car parked over winter and I am itching to get it out to drive. I just remember how it felt like the power dropped off around 4500 or so and thought maybe I should fix it. I do have some areas that I need to address that I have been procrastinating on. For example, I still have factory control arms in the back. I really should upgrade that. I have been toying with the idea of putting long tube headers in and I already have an X pipe for them. So I should wait.. Thanks for your help. I will definitely get a custom cam made for my 408 that I build.
