BBK SSI Intake...Any one running it?

I am considering the BBK SSI intake when I rebuild the motor in my car. I have heard that it only matches up to stock heads. Can anyone verify this.

I will be installing a set of iron GT40 heads from a 95 Cobra, so needless to say, I don't want to spend money on something I can't use.

Thanks

Pat

ehh, i haven't really heard much about the intake honestly, there was some buzz around it when it first came out, then i heard a bunch of horror stories about it constantly leaking and having to be milled to get it to seat properly, then it dropped off the radar completely

maybe do a search on here and over on corral and see what you come up with

I've heard bad things in terms of installation, but I've seen pretty good dyno results on otherwise mild 302s. It would probably perform well with your setup. Also, whatever you heard about it only "lining up" with stock heads doesn't make any sense, because any 302/351 head, stock or aftermarket, has the bolts and ports in the same place (extreme application race parts excluded). Its the same reason why we can choose to go so many different routes with our engine combinations. If it works on a stock head, I'm sure it will work with the GT40s.

Like RiceSlayer302, er, I mean, 5.SLOW said, I also have a friend who has one and likes it. I myself don't have a lot of confidence in BBK products, but that's just me. I definitely give it props for looking different.

yep pretty much what he said. i trust most of bbk's stuff though, they make a few good products.

I have one. Installation was a bit frustrating at times but that could have just been me not the intake. It seems to work well for me. I got it cus I got a good deal on it and it came with the fuel rails and tb. As far as performance improvement Ive never had my car dyno'd so I couldnt give you numbers. And I think as far as clearing aftermarket heads, I would think they clear them. If they dont, I know that BBK makes a spacer for the intake.
