Are the 8.8's a pretty good rearend? I guess it might be better than the 10 bolt in the F-cars but how much can they take? When I get my Mustang I want to be prepared. Can the rear end take launching on slicks? I'd like to get the MSD two step and a set of slicks but I was just wondering how far you could push a stock 8.8.

Also, what are the common weak spots and how hard and expensive is it to beef one of these units up.

Thanks for the help,
Joey

get 31 spline axles and it can pretty much take anything you can throw at it....

I dont know jack about rearends. Well, maybe a little, but do you have to have the special tools to replace the carrier? Ford's Trac-Lok is a carrier right? And so is a Detroit locker?

I know that might sound dumb but I am just making sure that a carrier is what I am thinking it is.

I guess I should have made the subject of this post "Drivetrain." If the 8.8 is pretty good with those upgrades, what becomes the next weak link? U-joints and driveshaft of the transmission?

Just for the record I searched, but there were way too many results to sift through.
