Well 2 months ago I put in a DFX centerforce clutch, my shop said it would be enough to hold my power. a few days ago I was on the freeway and I gun it in 5th and the engine just revs up, so I try it a few more times same thing. My shop suggested an RPS twin disc carbon clutch, which is around $2000:jaw:, and the worst part is that they can't tune and install my new blower til they get the clutch in. What are my other options for clutches that can hold over 700 rwhp.
Thanks

did you follow the break-in period restrictions? CF clutches are good, but are touchy when it comes to break-in, if you dont follow it exactly how it says they will go to junk fast.

I have a DFX on my Cobra and have no slipping issues in any gear at any throttle. Clustch has been in it for 30K+ miles :nice:

yeah i broke it in properly, never launched it just mostly 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. I had my shop check everything, and its all adjusted properly. I'm looking for something that is very streetable that can hold the power, and i drove another car with the RPS clutch and it felt close to stock.

Spec Sells their Stage 5 which is rated up to like 800 ft lbs or more, the disk is sintered iron and is totally an on/off clutch. I know someone who has a 650rwhp Termi without any problems from the disk, he just keeps putting aftermarket cables in it though....

The spec 5 is one nasty mofo. Have a friend with it in a 351 blower car, it snaped the input shaft of a 3550.. :D It had been holding his power quite well for a while now. He went through every other brand known before that. Best part is there is no break in time for it. Just bolt and hammer down. :D

the spec 5 sucks to drive on the street. my buddy has that in his 900 hp cobra and it squeals and chatters constantly

i really like my spec stage 3+. it feels as smooth as factory and the pedal effort is not too heavy either. it has been holding my car with no problems for almost a year now

Yeah the spec 5 is obnoxious on the street.

IMHO Centerforce is the best for street usage. Because of the counter weights they have the peddle effort is the same as stock yet the clamping force is so much greater. My 447 rwhp is just fine for my DFX
You could try stepping the size up to 11" and get the right flywheel, that may help. At least modulating the pedal will be easier :nice:

Also Centerforce has that dual clutch version for really high HP applications.
