So does anyone know if the mach 1 is prone to tranny probs? I have a 5 speed and i am about to replace the throw out bearing for the second time in 4 months...and i have only had it for about 6 months!!!!

well i was figuring the cable might need re-adjusting but i dont know because its makin the same sound right before the bearing blew to pieces. But other than that the gears go in fine, it has a new clutch, its just the same ol ****! But thanks guys i appreciate your feedback!:nice:

If your bearing keeps wearing out quick it can only be a few things. A: your input bearing retainer is warped and needs replaced B: your cable is too tight and keeps constant pressure on the tob which leads to premature failure, can also lead to premature pressure plate fingers failure. C: You have **** luck with tob and need to go buy a ford one.

Any of the above could be possible... or a combo of all three. Either way, your pulling the trans again. Take a close look at how ur cable is routed now and if it gets pinched anywhere. Then look at ur bearing retainer and put a straight edge on it to see if its warped or has grooves in it. Lastly, go buy an oem replacement...if they can go 100+k in a stock car, no reason for them to die on u.

well my pops knows a guy who supposedly is pin point on things like this and he said that sometimes the trans can start to sqeak because the ATF it calls for is too light so to put a tran addative and that it should do it. so apprently to him after he scoped out my car its not the bearing....im still not convinced but we shall see

I'm having a very similar problem, so I'm interested to see what happens with yours. Just got my 3rd clutch installed under warrantee. Shop says that's the last one they will do..they replaced it because they mis-diagnosed the problem as a bad TOB. Now they say I need a new transmission because either the input shaft is warped or bearing in the trans is bad.

ya thats weird! i had an 02 gt that was a 5 speed and i never had any probs with the trany in it! just the good ol spark plug blowout thats so common. actually i was surprised. i put in the additive in the tranny and the sound went away which surprised the sheet outta me. i was convinced it was the tob cause the sound was so sketchy!!! well good luck with yours man. i hope you get yours in good shape
