Tire question

I just picked up some factory ford bullitt's. 17x8. What is the widest tire i can get on there for the back? I've seen some say you can put a 275/40 back there. anyone done this? problems with it? thanks.

Do you mean physically fit without rubbing or fit on the rim? 275/40 are a better fit on a 9"-11" wide rim. They should also fit without rubbing.

The max I would put on a 8" wide rim is 255/40. Will a 275/40 go on. Sure. Would I feel comfortable at speed. Nope

Exactly what he said....some tire shops would refuse to put a 275 on an 8 inch rim.

255 is still a wide tire, but if you you want to go 275, opt for the 9 inch rim.

but frankly, if it's a daily driver, i'd put the same size tire on all 4 because then you can rotate them and make the tires last longer

thanx, i'll go with the 255. the rims i bought came with 4 brand new 235/35 continental sport something or others. all the reviews are gawd awful so i'm gunna take off 2 and save them for the fronts and get 2 new rear tears

The only 275 I would and have put on a 8" wheel is a Nitto 555R 275 drag radial......any other tire I'd go with a 255.
