stupid plastic intake....

It wasn't a recall per se. Ford agreed to replace the plastic intake with a new unit with an aluminum crossover if the plastic one fails at the thermostat housing. Other failures were not covered by this deal if I remember correctly. Also, there is a 7-year limit (from the car's manufactured date) on this claim, so your car would not be covered. Still, I would go to the Ford dealership and see what they say. Complain if you have to; you might get lucky.

That sounds correct. My dad owned the 97 mustang before me and had the stock plastic manifold crack. He took it to ford and they replaced it free of charge. At that time, the car was slightly over the 7 year limit, but they still upheld it. :nice: However, a 99 is now 10 years old, but still worth a try.
