Electric Fan HELP!!!!!

Ok so the gauge was wired wrong but it works now lol so that is fixed.

Also i hooked up a switch to the fan before the ccrm like it said but the funny thing is it worked.....! But yes always the great BUT... err!!! ok the fan will come on when the car is off or on asc. but not when the eng is on wow blow my mind. So seeing how i have a good 50 hours in just this little thing and drag season is here and i am done working on this prob. lets move on to a quick fix. Might not be right but it might work.

SIMPLE QUESTIONS / SIMPLE ANSWERS

1.) The wire is hooked up to the ccrm so it can control it but i should be
able to control it also from the switch. What if i was to cut the wire so only the
switch controlled the fan and the computer could not do anything with it?

YES / NO

2.) If this does work will a check eng. light come on?

YES / NO

3.) If this does not work can i just tap in to the fan
wires and eliminate the computer and ccrm from doing
anything with it and me be in full control of when the fan
is on and off?

YES / NO

Lets say i go out and buy a dual fan elect. of course. it is not made to wire to our computers right lots of people run those off of just a switch that they control i see it at the drag strip all the time now lets look back at my car. i drove the car less then 1200 miles last yr and the yr before under 3000 so doing this is what i would like to do. Any idea on how to make this work would be great. I know it will work some how. Just need to make sure i do it the right way.

O and screw the computer i am sick of it lol.

Thank You!

I have no idea what's going on anymore, nor what has been tested and what hasn't. In short, grounding PIN 17 on your CCRM should cause the fan to come on at high speed.

Your idea to ditch the stock control is fine. Use a 75 amp relay and a toggle switch on the control side of the relay (if you choose to go that route. Don't forget to turn your fan on).

hmm maybe i found something.

was looking at the wiring on the back of the switch and looks like the ground on it was not connecting all the way. so i pulled it off when i pulled it off the switch i turned the switch to on woops. well the fan came on. I was like wait a min no ground why is it working. So i am wondering is that why it would not have been workign when the eng was on because it was not getting a ground?

It's simple. On your 75 amp relay:

Terminal 30 receives fused battery power.

Terminal 86 goes to a key-on accessory source. This wire draws little power so you dont need to really worry about overloading a circuit. Fuse this circuit with a 3 amp fuse.

Terminal 85 goes to your toggle switch. The other end of the switch goes to ground.

Terminal 87 goes to the fan motor's high speed lead.

I would recommend using a flyback diode reverse biased across the fan motor leads. I would also use an automatic fan controller in case you forget to flip your switch. You can still have the switch for manual override.

OK. its back! got the cobra fixed did the relay OMG works great!!!!! thank you so much to all you guys for the info.

And thank you Kyle for putting up with me threw all of that and helping me with everything.

took it out tonight around midnight my time and just drove it for a min and god it was so great to be back in her!!!

i had not driven the car since last Aug. other then to get something repaired on it. i don't know how i ever went that long with out driving it. but now that i have that switch in,
it stays at 155° to 160° if i leave the fan on. Witch is going to be so nice for the drag strip.

Thanks Again!!!
