At a quick glance, I had a feeling this wasn't going to work...

The more I looked at them, and thought about how the hell this would work, I finally thought of something. I measured the bracket that holds the sliders on the recaros...

Its 15 inches from bolt to bolt. Then I measured my 89s factory seat...

Its about 14.5. So my thinking is that if I mount the 89s brackets with sliders onto the Recaros, the bolts on each side will be off by .25 inches. The metal part that gets bolted to the carpet on a fox are pretty large, and I'm pretty sure those holes can be enlarged without problems. I have a friend bringing me sets of brackets with sliders this weekend.

I already removed the Recaro's brackets.

Hope this works!

What car are those recaro's from? If they aren't the ones that came in a car from the factory, won't the bracket kits fit?

They didn't come in any factory car. They were in a 82 volvo the last 8 years however. :rlaugh: They are in beautiful condition and only set me back $400.

Here's two stickers I've found on the underside...

Been there, done that with the recaros. I managed to get the stock seat brackets on the recaros and bolt them in the car, wait until you try to sit in them, best I recall it was all furked up! I ended up having to order brackets and sliders specifically for a mustang to make them work correctly.

Really? Well damn! I guess its no harm in my trying though. My friend was gonna throw the seats away, and he's coming into town anyway. I will give it a try.

How much did the brackets cost you?

For the Recaros in my car, I believe I had to get Fox specific sliders and brackets. It's still a pain to make it work, but totally worth it. I've done it on 3 different fox cars so far.

enlarging the holes will work. i did it on my car. adding some washers won't hurt though, just in case the worst happens. i even reused the stock seat to bracket bolts on my aftermarket seats.

im doing the exact samething in my car too, I am redoing my brackets etc. for my lx recaros :) im useing a 6way power brackets from a 04 mustang though :)...

I have also the corbeu brackets and works fine too :), but ill post up pic's wen Im done with mine....

That set up is going to be too tall for a fox, the sliders should be bolted directly to the seat base.

Thats my fear. If so, the mustang mounting brackets may be cut, and welded to the recaro sliders. Time will tell.

so... what's the plan for those halo headrests?? :D

I'm just test fitting these with my 89. The plan is to put the recaros in my 93 coabra that has black interior. It's factory seats are perfect, and I want to store them, and keep them in that condition.

YOU can do it! I have Recaros installed from a Daihatsu originally. At the time unfortunately did not have good pics taken. I used manual foxbody tracks and ended up welding some one inch angle iron to the tracks to widen them. Then drilled up through angle iron and using grade 8 hardware into Recaro holes. Best mod I ever did. Recaros were $400 of Ebay.

Might be a pic on my blog.
