Hey everyone I'm new to this website and to the mustang world. Im from midwest kc, I'm tired of gay hondas, I'll give them props but the dinky 4cyl "vtec" gets on my nerves now, the Fn engine sounds like its going to explode! Now I want something mean and agressive and beastly sound. About to turn 18 and graduating and going to get some cash and buy a 5.0 lx hatchback. My goal is to reach 12s high-low, cheapest as possible. well also as part of my goal, I'd like to beat my friends 07 c6(stock) on a drag, and highway roll. My 5.0 is going to be a dd and I will occasionally take it to the track to keep updates on my ets and rts. I want to be able to corner but not any autocrossing, just enough to have a good feeling. I've been reasearching seen alot of reports on mods and stuff but I'd like some direct imput to my personal goals and see where I could take this. Below are mods that I have learned, please help me, if I am wrong or not going in the right direction.
Mods I'm looking forward too:
stock t5?
3.73 gears
dd slicks(would these last long as a dd?)
cb exhaust
headers(not sure which length)
cai(remove silencer, they say it sounds better)
cams(.500 lift?)
ud pullys(but I would like ac its hot where i live...to me lol)
minor weight reduction(back seats and spare tire, light weight rims)
tunning(wires, plugs, synthetic oils, etc.... i dono what else?)
subframe connectors
short throw shifter
light flywheel/better clutch
for the suspension I don't know, still researching that.

Lol I understand this is a long tread that many of you may ignore, its ok, but if someone could give me a few more points on suspension and other mods to help me reach my goal I'd greatly apreciate it.

Thank you!

You will need some heads and an intake also. Cam is up to you, Depends on where you want your powerband to be. Usually under 500 lift means you can stay with the stock pistons.
Your tires.....go with some drag radials and you will be fine. I road on some for years on a car that was a weekender.

I'm from north Kc..I've seen a few for sale, on kcsr theres one forsale boosted...but I rather do my own work. On drag radials what would you guys perfer, did some quick research and I'm leaning towards NT555R? When you said Intake did you mean IM?

Thanks everyone

Heads are your biggest hp maker besides using a poweradder.

Get a set of edelbrock performers with the 1.90 intake valves with a fms e-cam and a good intake and exhaust setup and you'll be set.

I had a very simple engine setup in a full weight full interior 92 hatch that went consistent 12.0's @112 mph n/a.

stock 5.0 shortblock
edelbrock performers
holley upper and lower
24lb injectors
70mm tb
e-cam
bbk lt's
x pipe
3.73's
tko 5 speed
m/t drag radials

If you want to hang with a C6, you need more motor.

A H/C/I (head, cam, intake) swap would do you good.

As far as the intake goes, you need an aftermarket plenum. Upper and lower intake manifolds. Then worry about your cold air or what ever.

There is a lot of good info on here, just use the search feature.

You have much to learn young grasshopper.

b-cam with 1.7 rr's will give u .510 no ptv clearance issues, i think its about .550 it start getting dangerous

lift doesn't have as much to do with ptv clearance as duration does...

a good h/c/i with all supporting mods should get you where you want to go. look into the top end kits. well put together with parts that work together. trickflow has a really good, very complete kit. the kits are about $2500.

Honestly if you are smart (which i wish i were) i woulda saved money and bought a compete top end kit from trick flow, bang for the buck def go with that.

Sorry haven't been able to reply no computer at home and school blocked this site, I've been researching and probably go with the trick flow kit, suspension work and some other minor things..I really wanna beat my friends wrx 2.5 stage 2 also! I believe he runs lows 13s to high 12s possibly , i really need some good traction, his AWD is heaven. Thanks everyone for the input! I shall be off to find this damn stang!

Hey your headed in the right direction, The M/T Street Radials are the best, also a H/C/I from Jay Allen will give you a 320/330hp at the RW for about $3200.00. Also I have a X pipe that sounds great, the 3.73 gears are great, Do all the MODS that you mentioned, they will help alot, My car is stock suspension and handles just fine on the street, Headers are a must and dump (cut the tail pipe) them at the Muffler (less Back pressure), The stock T5 can handle all of this in my opp, UD Pulleys are a good way to go as well maybe some 26/30lb injectors, If the car is SD go MAF (C&L) calibrated to the injectors, I maxed my fuell pump to 255lph for later MODS (going in the tank is not fun). The 5 Lug Conversion on the rear wheels i did not find to be a must as well as converting the drums to disc at the rear. A Nince Line Lock could prove to be a good and cheap add on for the track for the Burn Out as well as the Staging Light. A Shift Light for the Track is a good thing to have as well. Bigger Throttle Body and EGR (Port the Stock Intake) will breath better. Nice Stage 2 Clutch should be fine (Center force/ Grip Force etc) change the Fly wheel Grip Force has a complete kit with Fly wheel included that much lighter the than Stock.

There is alot more you can do, these cars are made fore MODS.....:nice: Stang All the Way. Ran 8.5 in 1/8th with just a 100 shot of NOS and bad clutch. Cant wait to do all my up grades that i have and then run the 7s(I Hope:nice:). It feels
great.

Enjoy your car Mustangs are the Best.
