Hurst Shifter Ball Discoloration.

  • Sponsors (?)

No biggie I guess I'll live with it, try to see if cleaning does the trick if not later on I'll get a new one. I'm thinking the roush cylinder style with grips if it fits. Does it?

i like the traditional ball style shifter knobs.

That's cool but is/are the Roush shifters compatible with the Hurst handle or do they need some kind of adapter? The ball is classic but it is not very ergonomical. Even with racing gloves on it doesn't feel right, a more cylindrical shape is better for the shape the hand takes when it closes.

No I don't . I just went to the store one afternoon for some reason a weird reflection caught my eye and it turned out to be discoloration not a reflection. Never noticed it before. All I can think of is the car had been out the whole day under the sun that day and It was particularly sunny that day (with an ozone watch) but that's about it.

i am not sure on the thread pitch of either shifter ball. call roush directly if you cant find it online. wait, they are a sponsor here now. maybe jack roush jr himself will answer your question.

Walter - maybe you need to wash your hands more. (Just kidding!!) Seriously, maybe too many hours parked in the sun. The sun seems to cook anything in time - ruins paint, interior, etc.

my car has spent everyday outside. i am even at 7200 feet and the UV index is off the charts during most of the year. still no problems. maybe you got a bad knob.

My Hurst does not show any discoloring, but it did come with an OEM scratch (under the paint) near the "R".

I called Hurst and they said they wouldn't replace it unless I sent it back to them first, with a copy of the receipt from where I bought it. Kinda hard to drive with no shifter ball.

So I drive it, knowing that I have a "limited edition" ball.:nice:

haha, I had the same problem, and the chip kept getting bigger, so i sanded it all down and sprayed it all black. Looks cool now.
