I have a 86 project, I have a guy ready to do the body and paint on it. My question is what's the best bang for the buck?? I plan on keeping the car, it is gonna be black. I want something that is gonna last but is reasonable on cost. I have heard good things about transtar products, dupont nason and of course PPG.

Throw out your ideas to me.... Just keep a budget in mind :)

how much do you have to spend? that makes a big difference

Buy Nason products. I usually go Dupont paint and Nason clear, but buying both in Nason will save you some money.

A single stage paint would save money over buying bc/cc. That paint is harder than bc/cc as well, so it will resist rock chips.

I had tossed the idea of doing single stage, but decided not to. Does the nason base cover good?? I don't think it should matter too much since it's black

Nason products are a line from Dupont. The paint and clear is fine. All I've ever used is Nason clear. My supplier told me the Dupont is supposed to shine more, but it is more money, and I can't imagine anything shining more than Nason. This is Nason clear.

Friends GT I painted using Dupont black and Nason clear. 4 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear.
