Thinking of Cutting Cats Off...

I've got a quick question for everyone.

I live in Alabama, where we have no Emissions testing.
I've been through many Exhaust setups, and I'm still not satisfied with my exhaust sound. I believe that the only thing that I can do differently is cut off my Cats.

If I do so, will I need to get a custom Tune for my car?

My current Setup is:
  • AirRaid CAI
  • DiabloSport Predator 91 Octane Tune
  • Prochamber Mid-Pipe w/ Stock Cats
  • Bassani Axle-Back SS Mufflers

ANY Feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Just some advice, if you cut out the cats, be prepared for some possible trumpeting and raspyness. The variable cam timing on these cars do goofy things to the sound of the exhaust when you "open" it up. As far as anything special for a tune, you'll need to turn-off the rear O2 sensors. I'm not familiar with the DiabloSport Tuner, but would think it should have the capability to do this. If you don't turn off the rear O2's, the CE Light is going to come on.

I was running an O/R prochamber with magnapacks. Inside the car it tended to sound raw and and a little raspy. The sound from the outside was awesome. I added hi-flow cats and that made a difference. Gave the car a cleaner and deeper tone. I am not sure if you could add hi-flows to your set up since you set-up splices into the stock cats.

i would cut em off. i had the offroad prochamber and SLP loudmouths and it was insane. i liked it but i had to get it changed because of my neighbors. i was never once pulled over for it being too loud though. where in alabama are you? i'm in tuscaloosa.

AWESOME! Thanks for the feedback!
I live in Hoover, and they're a lot of LOUD 'Stangs around here!

Maybe I'll see on I-20 or I-459 some time... Watch out for those State Troopers; they're EVERYWHERE! :flag:
