I have a 2007 Mustang GT and all of a sudden what was once a small annoying noise coming from the passenger rear seat belt is not vibrating to heck. I had a guy lay in the trunk of my car as I drove and he found the noise coming from the rear seat belt mechanism. When he manuevers his hand through the open holes of the sheet metal he was able to hold the mechanism in his hand tightly and the noise went away. Then I got out of the car and put my hand in the same place and was able to manually make the same vibration noise as when the car was rolling. What is wrong with this thing? A defective mechanism or what. Can anyone send some light on this problem.

Thanks

Im having the same issue. Now that it is cleared that they will replace it at the dealership i have another issue that i know someone else had but i cant find the topic ANYwhere. Im having the issue with my front cluster rattling. Seems to only happen when its hot was gonna see if there was a fix to the problem or if the dealership will fix it. Thanks

Its a Ford. Thats called a feature.

When you speak of the seatbelt mechanism for this problem, is it for the rear seat seatbelt harness or the "receiver" or "buckle" ? Any pics of the mechanism you are referring to?

Is it a vibration or a "clunk" noise that you hear?

I have an '07 convertible with a noise coming from the left rear but only happens over some railroad tracks or bumpy roads. The dealer can't figure it out.

2007 Rear Seatbelt Mechanism Noise

dude I had the EXACT SAME problem, except mine was drivers side. It took the the dealership like 4 test drives to find it. I could bang around and make it vibrate myself. Its a defective seatbelt mechanism. The dealer replaced mine under warranty.

Thanks for the info. It seems to be getting worse and since the Ford dealer fixed it under the warranty I will be taking it back to Ford next week.

Rear Seat Belt Mechanism Noise

Does anyone know how to get to the rear seat belt mechanism that is making all the noise. I would prefer to do myself rather than take to my Ford dealership. I believe you need to remove the back window speaker panel to get to the mechanism right? And how much does the mechanism cost? Would appreciate any info you might have.

Thanks,
Rob
