Just wondering what kind of HP gains from installing Heads and upper/lower intake from a 96 Explorer.. And are these a direct bolt on to my 88 Non mass air?? And are these real GT40 parts on a V8 explorer

Thanks

I can get Heads and upper/lower intake for $300 cdn this a good deal??

Yeah, I do belive that the 96 would have come with GT-40's and not the GT-40P's. So the heads with bolt right up. The lower intake on the explore and the GT-40 lower share the same part number, but the explorer lower will not have the sensor hole drilled and tapped on the #5 runner. Any machine shop can do that very cheap or DIY if your up to it. The upper is just a cheap cast of the GT-40. It flows about the same. If you need to keep you EGR make sure you get the early explore stuff with the EGR ports. Hers's what both the upper and lower should look like..

$300 is a great price i think. I would grab them.
Now as fas as HP go's. I would say it's a easy 25- 35 maybe.
Grab the TB also and convert it so you can get the 65mm

You’ll need a 65 MM EGR spacer so you have a place to mount the EGR & throttle linkage.

95+ lower intake doesn't have the air charge temp sensor. They are out on the air tube. It gives a false reading of cooler air.
GT-40P replaced the GT-40 in 5.0 Explorers and Mountaineers in early/mid 1997
look for 4 bars on the side face to identify P heads. standard GT-40's will say GT or have 3 bars. Will need sn95 elbow for TB & EGR

Here's a good tech article on explorer/mountaineer heads an intake
