Well I guess JT inspired me to make a new thread here. :D I am in the desert now as some of you know. Can't wait to get back home, lol.

I do know for fact that I am going through with a new project car. I also know that I must sell a few vehicles. :( As with GM, I am doing a massive reformation, lol. Not only for the $$, but mainly for the room. I just have too many lurking around the house. I'll be tossing the F-250 out for a new smaller truck. I guess it's just too big for me and the uses I have for it. Sold the v8 S-10 already. Mountaineer has to go too, blah, blah, blah.

With all that said ... I have thought long and hard about the Stang. It has actually been my most reliable vehicle in the last few years. It's definitely been the most fun. And it is the attention getter, lol. I am going to try my best to keep her with me.

On to the project ... muahahaha!!!! So yea I have thought long and hard about this as well. Considered many things. Narrowed down to 2 choices. 03/04 Cobra vs. FD RX-7. Goal is something I can drive anywhere (even DD if I like), something I can use for autoX if I want, looks good and sounds good, something to take to the strip and dominate, and all this while getting "decent" mileage. Too much to ask for right?

I have chosen the RX-7. I will be building an LS2 / T-56 3rd gen. RX-7. It wins every category. Not my first RX-7 ... I've always loved them and always will. 400HP and 30 mpg ... what's not to love about that?! These cars are just beautiful to me. One of the only imports that actually look good to me for some reason. That + American V8 power =

Example anyone? :) Tell me this isn't sexy ...

Hey Justin, welcome back. Been a while, huh? If Patrick (super302) shows back up now, we're really in for trouble. :D

I don't see any mention of your Mustang in there? You still got it?

Looks like a fun project. :D
There's a guy in 5.0 Tech here who has a windsor in his RX (I think it's an older RX though).

Gotta love the SBC power and T56 compatibility (donor cars).

Definitely a hot car man. My one foreign desire is a Supra, which I would love to own one day.

My only question is if you are keeping the Mustang why not build a 331 with a big turbo on it or some other radical setup?

I think he pretty much summed it up here:

Sounds like an awesome build. Keep us updated on what you get.

Yep, I still have the Stang, lol. And yea, if I keep it (like I intend) it is definitely not finished.

The LSx is one of the only things I admire when it comes to GM. It almost unbeatable. Small in relation to its C.I. ... lightweight ... PUSHROD ... great mileage, etc. Then mixing it with an FD makes the ultimate car for me. I know my fellow rotary peeps will bash me, lol. They say it de-souls the car. Oh well. I like torque. MPG instead of GPM. An engine that lasts over 60K miles. And can stay consistent.

So Pat is still MIA. Bummer. He is probably building some crazy car.

And Adam ... there is no way I'll ever do something like that, lol. I may do swaps ... but never will a GM product touch my Stang. It just feels wrong to think about it. AC Delco battery .... NEVER!!!! I still have blue blood, lol.

You bastard. You stole my dream car. I did one V8 swap in a 2nd get RX-7 for a friend before. Since then I have been dreaming of doing my own. Good choice with the LSx engine. I am up in the air between doing it with an LSx or with a 5.4 DOHC motor. The last one I did was a 383 SBC with a Dominator carb on it. We put a 4" cowl on the car, and still couldn't get an air filter on it. We got almost all the conversion parts through Granny's racing or something like that.

There was one of those RX-7's with a LSx swap at the track last time I was there. He was running mid/high 11's at 120-121mph. :)

I've been wanting to build a V8 Miata for a while now. The LS1 motor fits perfectly in them, and they'll run 11's @ 118+ stock. I just don't know if I could do a chevy project...

Wassup Mike. Yea I would actually much rather build something like a 5.4 DOHC, being how much I am a Ford guy. Boosted Navi. They just simply will not fit. Not even a SOHC will work without recontructive surgery on the towers.

I hope to run mid/high 11's from the get go.
