Recently my 96 gt has started stalling when i put it in park. Ive noticed it does it for a little(maybe a week) then goes away but then comes back after a few months. Its not so much when the car is cold but when its warmed and i get home and park the second i drop it to park it shuts right off and displays the dash lights like your just about to start it again. Also i noticed that the battery(couple months old) gauge drops to almost nothing when it gets put into park. Any ideas why?

Will the car idle well in drive? Could be a vacuum leak which are more prominent at idle but odd that your symptoms dissapear and re-appear. Electrical?

Yea idles just fine, no surges or anything at all. Like i said i noticed that my battery gauge drops down to almost nothing right when i put it in park like i lose all power. As odd as it sounds when i leave my ipod connected and park my car it stalls but like last night i disconnected it before i parked and it didnt stall on me. I have no clue whats going on, since i got work today im gonna try disconnecting my ipod before i put it in park and see if it still stalls or not but that would be weird if it was the ipod some how haha.

Me and friend both had the same problem you had. The thing is that when you disconnect the battery, you reset the ecu so that it is forced to learn how to do everything again such as idle, idle in drive, neutral etc etc. The trick is to drive the car when its stone cold so the car doesn't stall on you, and after 20mins of driving it should be fine, other than that if you have a really weak battery it would just make matters worse.

No codes or anything. Ive used sniper tuning software but my car did it before i used it. Someone mentioned the TR senor(fords netural safety switch) while i was up at the store. Would that cause anything. Its not harming anything just annoying but kinda wanted to figure whats causing it.
