looking to ditch the stock h-pipe on my 01 bullitt. right now the car has mac flowpaths on it. ive narrowed it down to two choices either the SS prochamber or the SS bassani x pipe. i like the bassani for the fact that it comes in five pieces and the cats can easily be swapped out where the prochamber has no cats but at the same time im afraid cause everybody says that a chambered muffler does not sound good with an x pipe. anybody with MAc flowpaths please chime in. thanks

A few years ago I upgraded to a MAC o/r h-pipe along with the MAC cat-back. It sounded good, but was way too loud for a DD. I kept it that way for about 2 years and changed back to the stock midpipe last fall. It sounded alright, but was way too quiet for my taste. Recently I bought and installed a Magnaflow catted x-pipe, and I've gotta say it sounds way better than the o/r h-pipe and the stock mid-pipe (obviously). The Magnaflow pipe is also stainless, which is nice.

I heard the same thing about chambered mufflers sounding like crap when paired with an x-pipe, but I think my car sounds mean as he**. It has a real aggressive tone/growl. But you know what they say, opinions are like a** holes.

That rule applies mainly to the offroad X's. Cats change the tone dramatically.
