Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

The air conditioning in my 1999 GT is not working.
For some reason my compressor clutch is not kicking on.

The system is full of freon, and I have tried jumping the low pressure switch, but i still have nothing. I know the compressor is good because I ran 12v to it and it kicked on and the air blew cold, but for some reason i have no poewr going to the a/c compressor.

Are there any other relays or switches that could be bad? Or do i maybe have a break in the wiring to the a/c compressor?

Please help thanks alot

There are two pressure switches in the system so a sensor may be bad. The system will not engage if pressure is to low OR high. How do you know how much is in the system? The only way to tell is by pulling it out and weighing it. The pressure could show normal on a gauge but there could be air in the system. When was refrigerant last added? Was it done at a shop or with a DIY kit? If the car has never been recharged then I would evacuate the system and recharge it with the new synthetic stuff. You can get the kit for $45 from Autozone and they will also rent you the vac pump for free. You just take the hose from the recharge kit and hook it to the pump and your low pressure side after you evacuated all the R-134 out. Leave it hooked up for 10 minutes then remove it and start adding your freon. It will take almost both cans but just shy. Also, you will not get every drop out of the can so when there is 10% left just unhook the system and plug in the second bottle..

This way it will be a hair colder (apx 3*) then the commercial stuff a shop will use and will cost you half as much this way. :nice:

Had the same problem on my 98, I half assed fixed it. Been a while since I looked at the diagram but it pretty much goes through the control panel, the 2 pressure switches and the ccrm then to the compressor and to ground.

Was getting voltage all the way up through the switches but not through the ccrm, didnt feel like pulling the tire off and dicking around with that, so I just cut the wire coming off the hi press sitch that goes to the ccrm and ran it straight to the compressor, works fine.

Think the only thing the ccrm does is privode the WOT cutoff but not sure. I'll troubleshoot it down and fix it right one day.
