Hey,

I was able to program my 1999 stang
i put the key and kept turning the from off to right before it starts
think i did it about 15times then i heard a beep so i pressed the unlock button
on the remote then the doors opened

Keep me posted:SNSign:

Well fellas tried both ways, did not work. the place i purchased the remote from said to jump a plug in the trunk on the drivers side, should hear doors cycle, push any button on remote, it is programmed... i could not find such a plug/connector in that location? i am not sure the doors locks are working properly because the passenger side door will unlock both doors, but not lock, and the drivers side does not lock or unlock the doors. but i think it should still program the remote in this condition. i locked the doors with key and followed instruction as mentioned in above posts... never heard locks cycle after 8 or 15 key cycles... thanks for your help fellas, if you have any more ideas come with them... any body else want to chime in please do so...

you'll need to find that plug in the trunk, on the driver side, the 8 cycle works only for 99-04 cars, not for the 94-98..

Depends on the year of the car...99+ yes I believe you need to have a dealer do it
Pre-99 no you can do it yourself.

Also depends on your number of keys. If you already have 2 programmed PATS keys then you can program the 3rd yourself. I don't remember how though. On the flip side if you only have one key and lose it then you have to have the car towed to a dealer and have 2 keys cut and programmed. Ahhh the wonderful PATS system...

Pats sounds really great NOT... :notnice:

I have a 96 GT, no remote at all only the one i purchased and am trying to program, Can i program it, if i dont have another one on the system, note the other remotes were lost by previous owner, so i would think it still has them in memory. from what i under stand there is a plug in the lf trunk area that needs a jumper wire for the romote to be programmed... I dont see this PLUG any body has 96 that can show a picture of this PLUG. I do see 2 plugs on the trunk lid, but I do not want to cause more issues than i already have lol...

96-98 you only need 1 key

Trust me, I've already done it.

The plug for the alarm system is in the left side of the trunk(behind the carpeted panel). It sits above a plastic white box with wire harnesses running out of it.

The plug itself should look like a 2 prong connector with nothing plugged into it.

To program a new remote fob:
-Turn the engine to the start position
-Have the trunk open
-Now short the 2 terminals on that little plug(use pliers or something to wedge in there)
-Press a button on the new fob
-The doors should lock/unlock signaling that the transmitter has been activated

This is how I did it on my 96GT, and it worked for me.
