Well I finally made it to the track on Saturday night. It was nice because there were not very many people and I got in 11 runs. It was a warm day for us here in Portland.

07/18/09
Portland International Raceway, Oregon EL. 29
Weather: Hi 86.0F @ 4pm

Best Run
1/4 Mile ET: 13.043
1/4 Mile MPH: 109.900
1/8 Mile ET: 8.554
1/8 Mile MPH: 87.280
0-60 Foot ET: 2.052
Temperature F: 75.9
Density Altitude (DA): 1144 feet

Well it sure was a challenge getting the tires to hookup. My first run looked like a John Force burnout, not very fast but looked impressive (14.6 ET with a 3.1 60’). After a few passes of getting the launch somewhat figured out, I was averaging 13.3s while hot lapping the car. I let it cool down for 20 minutes and got it to do the 13.0 run. I was hoping for 12.8s for my first time out. I really need a drag radial or ET streets if I want to see significantly lower times. The 275/35 tire on the 20” rims is not going to get me down in the mid to low 12s.

Correct me if I am wrong, If can cut my 60-foot time down to 1.6-1.7, I should be able to get a 12.2-12.4 ETs.

Sounds familiar. Made my first s/c pass about 2 weeks ago 2nd gear was nothing but spinning.Vortech also . Got my M/T ET Streets today hope to do better wednesday night. 13.34 was my best but I only made 1 pass. with the stock tires I just could'nt see the point. You get some hook and will for sure be in the mid /low 12s. What vortech I have v3 non intercooled on an 09 bullitt.

I have the same setup. Did you put it on yourself or did you have it done. I did mine over the Memorial Day weekend. What rims are you using with the MTs?

Traction is the key. My car is very similar car to yours, bynumj.

I have an '07 GT with 4.10's and a Vortech V2 supercharger (standard, non-intercooled). To emulate a stick shift car launhing at high rpm's, I have a stall converter that flashes to 4,800 rpm's at launch.

The biggest difference is that I have BFG 275/40/17 drag radials. Set at 18 psi, and heated up well for each run, my car runs very consistently...

60' = 1.80's
1/8 mile = 7.90's @ 90 mph
1/4 mile = 12.30's @ 111 mph

With your manual trans, you can likely beat my 60' times a bit; maybe 1.70's? Heck, I pulled 1.70's occasionally with my '03 Mach 1 manual trans on drag radials bone stock with 3.55 gears.

Your car will easily pull 12.30's or 12.40's with proper traction and good shifting.

Bynumj, Go to this link to check out the wheel package I got.
Silver Bullitt Drag Pack (two 17" wheels & two ET Street Tires)

I had brenspeed do my install. Drove out there from NJ. Had some other work done at the same time long tubes, delete plates, new valve covers and gauges.I like the set up just have to get better at driving it.

you said your going out to the track wens. what track? etown?

i haven't been to englishtown probably since the swap meet, they usually have great prep though so good luck with lowering the et :nice:

nice. i live about a half hour from there, probably why i dont go there much anymore hah.

yeah this whole weeks forecast is complete crap. planned to do a full detail on my car when it gets out of the bodyshop[aside for the freshly painted parts of course] but i dont see that happening this week.

Those days where you get that many passes in are always great. Heh when I saw your ET I imediately said he must of had no traction and then saw your comments below. Your MPH is great I think with traction a getting used to launching you could hit those numbers.

12.881 at 109.64 best time last night. That was the first pass started getting hot and humid after and I could only run 13.046 and 13.083at 110.31 and 109.98 respectivly.

So, with the non intercooled setup, is heatsoak an issue? How long does it run hard before you can feel a decrease in power? In the future I want a centri S/C. It regularly is around 95-100 where I live.

Heatsoak is definitely an issue for my non-cooled car if I hot lap at the dragstrip (race, and get right back in the staging lanes again for another run). The last time I hot lapped, my ET's got worse by about 2 or 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile. However, on a normal day at the drags, it's 1/2 hour to an hour between passes, so there's time to get the car cooled down.

If it's 95-100 where you live/race, get an intercooler.

I thought I would bring this one back from the dead. I also did my first runs at the track today since my V2 went on last week. It was lame to say the least. I was really disappointed. I went to a little crappy 1/8 mile track about an hour outside of town, let my car cool off for an hour, then made my first pass. 8.9* @ 84 mph. Launched way to high, murdered the tires in first and most of second. I let it cool down about thirty minutes, went again. Launched too low, bogged a little but didn't spin much in first, spun first half of second, felt good, only ran 8.4* @ 86 mph. My setup is bone stock 2008 Bullitt, factory 3.73s, and Vortech V2 non-cooled. Nothing else. When cold, it showed 429 rwhp and 381 tq on a Dynojet last week. These runs were on almost new Continental DWS street tires. I know i'm not going to see monster et's on street tires, but I was puzzled by the trap speed. I'm shifting around 6400-6500 (redline on the Bullitt is 6500).

I haven't been on a track in probably 10 years, when I had a bolt-on fox body coupe running on slicks. I know I drive like a granny, but damn! What's up? Why can't I get low 90s at the end of the track? I'm running the Brenspeed tune for now, but plan to have it Dyno tuned within the next few Weeks.

BTW, I opted not to get a time slip to keep them from painting numbers on my windshield, so I didn't get to see my 60' times. I know they are bad though.

When I had my 05 with the Vortech HO at 10lbs I was able to manage 12:60's to 12:40's pretty consistently on the stock 17 Pirelli's. The trick was no burnout. Doing a burnout on the stock tires would make them greasy and harder to hook. Instead I did 2 little "Dry Hops". The first cleaned the tires off and the second was to see how high I could launch before they spun.

Here's a video of one of the runs ...

Good advice. Nice run too. I plan on taking the car down the quarter mile for the first time in March. I have a feeling it will perform much better there. I'm learning how to launch and shift without killing the tires. Somehow this blower is peaking on the Dyno at over 11 lbs, with the stock 3.8 pulley. Both Dyno runs were in 40 degree weather so I know that contributes. The brand new boost gauge also shows over 10 lbs at around 6400 rpm. I'm just hoping for mid twelves on street tires. After having Steeda CMDPs installed last week, the car did 436whp on the first run with 13 degrees of timing, then five minutes later, the computer bumped the timing to 16 degrees and the car went to 465 hp. Great numbers, but I hope the s/c backs off the boost before hot weather! Time to start saving for an intercooler. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! These cars are a lot of fun boosted. In all fairness I forgot to mention I had Steeda lower control arms on the car on that run which are a big help. What gear do you have in your car? I had the factory 3:55's. Eventually I tried a set of 4:10's which were fun but I think 3:73's would have been a better choice.

The Bullitts came with 3.73s, which i'm pretty happy with since it is my daily driver for now. I'll probably end up getting some LCAs and drag radials soon so that I can maximize what I get at the track. How do these stock clutches hold up under this level, with minimal track runs? Maybe a good clutch is in order...

I was still on the stock clutch as of December 2011 when I sold the car and the supercharger was on it since late 2005 and it was still making 482hp/410tq at the wheels haha. I know it needed a new clutch but kept putting it off. If you get the chance to swap to a good clutch I wouldn't hesitate...
