Has anyone ever installed a Drain Plug kit on they're stock Aode transmission pan ?

I've called autozone to check availability, the autozone representative adviced me not to install one, for reason that the transmission pan metal might be too thin, and oil will go through.

Instalation requires you to normally drill 1/2" hole in the pan and install this kit. View attachment 250685
there are cheaper kits out there that do the same thing.

Any horror stories on these kits with our transmission pans ?

I installed one on a C6 in an F150 Mud Bogger. I purchased one from Autozone. B&M brand was what I used. Pull the pan, change the filter while its off, drill a hole in the pan, install the plug. It comes with a nylon washer to allow it to seal. I would also use some black RTV on it before tightening it up. You may have to buy a drill bit for the size hole needed in the pan in case you dont have good bits at home. The only reason I installed one was because I got tired of spilling fluid everywhere dropping pan. Engineers are not to smart when they make pans without plugs.....Oh and I used Teflon tape on the actual plug you remove. I did not take any chances of leaks. I never had one.

I would not use one on a stock pan. It is flimsy. If you have an aftermarket pan, you have a much better shot at it working (sometimes they leak even though the pan itself has plenty of structural integrity).

Yeah, that's what im getting tired of spilling oil on myself and the cement when taking off the pan, I finally put heli coils on the stripped pan threads, rechanged the real main seal to a teflon, and sealed those bolts rith red thread sealant.

I see you wanna get rid of the trans HISSIN, so far the Aod-e has been nothing but a pain to me.

I think I got those heli coils in pretty good to where the transmission pan bolts, before I was getting some hesitation engaging into 1st gear, which to my understanding is caused by having insuficient oil in the trans, and not the 32k stall converter.
It sucks draining the trans, then unbolting the pan, and having oil drip on you, for some reason my skin is allergic to engine and transmission oil.
