Cam Question

How big of a cam can I go on stock valve train on my 94 GT? I was told to go with Ford racings E303 but have heard an F cam will work.....

Nothing more than a .500 lift will work. Stock springs can not handle anything more. F Cam is .512 and is to much. B or E cam will work. Most here will tell you that a custom grind, Trick Flow, or Anderson cam is better than a B or E cam. I like the lope of the E Cam, but search this forum and you will find idle issues with the computer controlled idle.

Crane 2031, steeda #19, Trickflow Stage 1 are other good options.

Don't waste your money on a letter cam. They are only good for noise.

Stock heads? If so don't expect much at all except for some noise. Also will need a tune with a 2031 (e cam) and the trick flow.

If you are just looking for a "plug and play" cam, get the Steeda 19.

Idles like stock, pulls harder than stock, and makes more noise than stock.

The #18 cam is even nicer. But with stock heads it will probably loose power.

Letter cams are hit and miss....thats why u see guys do well with them and then guys who are unhappy. After spending some time with Jay Allen he explained to me how he examined a few E cams in his "Cam Dr." and they are horrible with their tolerances.


I would pick up some GT40P heads, upgrade the springs, and toss a cam in. That'd be a nice jump in power....and swapping springs isnt too bad of a job.
