Hi, so I really want to get into tuning and get my mustang working right. I am really liking the looks of the moates quarterhorse software... but for now am working on clearing some trouble codes....

I am looking at getting a wideband o2 kit, this one I am looking at says that the analog output can emulate a narrow band sensor for connecting to a stock ecu.

Just wondering if anyone runs with 2 widebands, one on each side with two gauges, while emulating a narrow band sensor using analog outputs, instead of just using the stock narrow band sensors.

Anyways about this kit I'm looking at, any advice on this innovate kit:

Innovate Standalone Gauge Kit w\ LC-1 & Blue DB Digital Gauge DIYAutoTune.com

$229.99

I just think it might be smart to go the wideband route before the tuning. Because it would help me set the proper fuel pressure to compensate for possible maf output problems, while just watching the air/fuel gauge. To try to get to let's say 14.1, should I always be aiming for the same air/fuel ratio even under load. What should I expect. What's normal. Thanks guys!

Unless you have a means (and know-how) to tune each bank individually, it's money better spent elsewhere. A single wideband placed in the known lean bank (typically the drivers side) is all you would need. Yes, it has the ability to emulate a narrowband to send the proper signal to the stock ECU.

As for tuning, different load conditions require different AFR’s. A N/A setup will typically run best around 12.5:1 at WOT while a forced induction really should be in the 11.5:1 range. Depending on the cam, idle AFR’s will require anywhere from 14.7:1 down to 12.5:1. The stock computer will always shoot for 14.7:1 and will constantly adjust in an attempt to reach it. The same goes for closed loop conditions….14.7:1 is what you typically want. Of course, fuel is just one part of the equation. You have to take into account your timing as well..which will have an effect on AFR’s

So all I would need pretty much is a wideband kit like the innovate lm1 and I think I like the moates quarterhorse as you can make changes on the fly which I like, eg. Idle. There are some more expensive wideband kits with dataloging and controllers, but is that really necessary with the tuning software like moates quarterhorse. What would you guys recommend in wideband kits for tuning with the moates quarterhorse, like connectivity with the datalogging software etc. I kinda like the gauge that comes with the o2 sensors, but if I use the gauge am I unable to datalog, I wonder how many output's there are, or if a controller is necessary. Any info on this would be great. Thanks!!!!

A wideband is a good tool for tuning, but if there is a problem with one area of your car(the MAF in your case), then going to another area and making adjustments is going to make things worse. you have to stick to one problem at a time, if you go changing too many things its only gonna make it worse.
