Rear end oil?

I need to change the rear end oil in my 96 Cobra. I had bought some off brand stuff, but decided I didn't wanna run that so I'm back to the drawing board. I think I'm gonna go ahead and get the royal purple. I've got three questions about it though. First, how many quarts do I need? Second, I know you're suppose to use friction modifier. Do I still need this with the royal purple oil (thought I read somewhere that it wasn't needed)? And finally, what weight should I use (located in Arkansas and it's my daily driver if that matters)? Thanks!

Justin, that you?

We're using 75w90 Mobil 1 and a little bottle of Friction Modifier.

Unfortunately not. I'm his younger brother. About a year and a half ago Justin decided a family vehicle was more important and put his mystic up for sale. I ended up trading him for it. So, at least it's in the family still.

As far as which oil, not really sure what I want to use. I've heard nothing but great things about the RP. I'd having a squeal coming from the rear at times, local guy that runs a rebuild shop said I just needed to add some friction modifier and it should go away. I figured I'd be better off just to change the fluid out because I don't know when it was done last.

Ahh, well tell Justin that Paddy wanted to check up and say hi. Used to run with him when he was out west. Glad to hear it's still in the family, it's a great car.

As for the Royal Purple, lately people have been saying (and scientifically proving and posting all over the internet) it's a bunch of fake stuff that just looks cool. Myself, I've never been the one to pay almost twice the price of what the going rate is when the Mobil1 is fantastic for the price, regardless of all the marketing tricks/lies.

I'll let him know that, funny how you can run into people like this! I've been unable to find the Mobile 1 at any of the local parts houses, which is a reason I've not really considered it. I can get it though, so that's not a problem and I'll probably go that route.
