Curious if anybody has installed a junkyard mustang hydraboost into a classic. Have a 68 Fastback project and thinking about installing a junkyard hydraboost.

I'm sure a lot of street rod builders use them. I know a lot of Cobra kit car builders use them. I don't know if a "junkyard" setup will work, though. The main issue I see would be the length of the setup. I don't think it'll clear the shock tower, so anything bigger than a 302 might have clearance problems.

i have been trying this over the past few days--

i have a hydroboost from a 2004 with the larger master cyl-

i have flipped the bracket around and it will clear the shock tower by about 3/8"

the pedal needs the pin mounted higher- the hole in the firewall has to be lower- to get the angle correct.

the clutch cannot be the stock rod.

i have a kinsler(sp) ? hydraulic clutch setup on order should be here monday.. their master uses an adapter that moves it out on an angle and down so it "might" clear the hydroboost.. they told me i can return it if it doesnt work for my application..

I have had one in my 67 for about 2 years now. The hydroboost and resevoir are from 2004. I fabricated a bracket, moved the pin on the pedal and and using a cable clutch it works just fine. With a 4.6 dohc everything is close but it all clears.

Shock towers are gone from my car.... Heidts. How much did the Keisler hydraulic clutch set-up run? I can't seem to find the price on their website.

Have a guy trying to sell me billet hydraboost for $400 that is new. The original reciept was $550.

Can get junkyard Hydraboost for around $120 on ebay.

i paid $125 for the hydroboost with master cyl from a 04 in as new cond..

the keisler clutch master kit without the hydraulic t-o bearing was $279

i will see it monday hopefully -- i know it a lot for a master cyl.. but master and lines cost $100.. heims for the ends $10 ea-- if it saves me a whole weekend of F--ING around then thats worth $150

Thanks for the info.... have a TKO600, SPEC Stage 2, 600hp motor. Would a hydraulic clutch be okay for that application vs. a cable?

It appears the hydraboost swap is doable.

Thanks....Brad

I have a 70 fastback with shock towers cut back. I drilled new holes for the hydroboost, modified the rod on the booster and everything fits fine.

The booster is from an 04 mach 1, picked it up for 100$.
