Anyone ever swap just mufflers?

I just bought another mustang (pics to follow in another thread once it's detailed and some hideous decals are removed) and I don't really care for the exhaust.

It has the SLP LM2 on it now with the stock mid-pipe. My previous cars always had Mac exhaust, which I loved. But buying a new catback is pretty expensive. Has anyone just bought mufflers and had a shop switch them out?

My main concern is that the SLP are straight through, while the Mac mufflers are offset. If this is going to cause a large amount of custom work, I might be better off just buying the Mac catback, which i can install myself and then trying to sell the SLP exhaust.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You may need some custom exhaust work done regardless, unless you swapped in another SLP resonator style. Have you looked into the SLP Powerflo mufflers? If you're doing to need custom work done, I'd say sell the SLP catback and put that toward the Mac catback. IIRC the SLP setup is more expensive than Mac so you may come close to breaking even, depending on the condition.

Lets see. I have a mac catback which at once i had FLowmasters welded into than Slp LM1's ones.. now im back to mac flowpaths. Which means i cut my catback up for nothing.

If you read it so far than youll see i had SLP's on a mac catback with no problem. So You can put Mac flowpaths on i would believe.

Well, first all i don't really give a **** what my catback looks like from under the car, the only part you see is the tips which is why i have slp tips. Secondly, i think its a waste of money to buy a catback, my stocker seems to be working just fine for 428hp..even on my car if i switched to 2.5- 3" inch pipes id be lucky to see 5hp...on a stocker you get maybe 1hp...
