Who here is getting 1 of the 2000 GT500s for 2010?

Still doesn't mean an all alumimun GT500 engine is NOT coming for 2011 though.

Good chance there will be an engine change in 2011, but that is not the year to buy. I would never buy a new engine (in this car) the first year. Let someone else be the test driver.

The Shelby contract was renewed for years 2010, 2011, and 2012 but is not expected to be renewed beyond 2012.

So based on the above information I plan to buy one of the 2012 GT500s as it will be the last year of the Shelby GT500 run and will have a proven engine/car/drive train installation.
I plan to keep the 2010 I have purchased as it will also be a limited run with this body style and engine.

I would also look for a price increase in 2011 and 2012.

If you are buying these cars as an investment thinking they are going to be worth big bucks you're in for a rude awakening. They made WAY to many of them to be worth anything.

Even the special packages from Shelby are a dime a dozen.

The changes in the motor for 2011 will be very small. From what I read and heard from insiders at Roush is it will have an aluminum block and the internal components of the Ford GT.

I have one of the first 1500 2007s and I haven't had a problem other than a bad COP when I first got it.

A new car is the worst investment you can make and the Shelby GT500 is no different. You misunderstood the meaning of my post. There is so much hype over the "new engine" for 2011 and my point was that I would not buy it first year out.

If a person is looking for a car to hold value then they should buy a Classic. Your 2007 is worth about $33,000 now if you can find a buyer. I sold my 2009 GT500 six weeks ago for $40,000.
 
Im glad I just ran into this post. I recently saw the only 2010 GT500 in CT, red with the satin black stipes. I am seriously looking into buying a 2010 coupe, black, satin black stripes, and all black interior. I was assuming that it was going to be a car that would only appreciate in value, assuming I kept it stock. I was going to drive it for maybe a couple thousand miles a year, and assumed I could get sticker price for it 3-4 years from now. Please correct me if Im assuming incorectly.

Also, any new updates with the 2011 GT500 would be great, cuz I am also thinking of waiting a year till im 25 to get that beloved insurance disscount:D
