SLP Loudmouth- Need advice!

I am brand new to the forum and desperately need some advice. I am saving for an exhaust. I was originally looking to get a corsa because i love the sound, but it is very pricey. So now I am looking to get the SLP loudmouths, but am afraid that they will be too loud. I do not want to get cited for them. These are the only two exhausts I like and just need some guidance. If there is anyone from the cleveland area with the SLPs, your feedback would be especially appreciated.

I have SLP Loudmouths, and I love them. The sound is nice and throaty with little drone. At first I thought that they might be too loud as well, but then I put some on my BIL's '05 GT and I was surprized at how good they sounded. They really aren't too lound unless you're into it (I love driving through downtown Columbus between all of the tall buildings revving it to around 5K and watching everyone cover their ears :rlaugh:) I ordered mine the next day :nice:

If you have stock headers and H pipe with cats you'll be fine. Now that I have them, I could stand for mine to be a tad bit louder. But, if you do an offroad X or H pipe, then they may be a bit too much. I intend to get long tube headers and an offroad X pipe, but if it ends up being too loud, then I'll do a mid muffler system with Magnaflows.

yea thats what i was thinking. i have been watching videos all last night and today to try and determine if they are too loud, but judging by what you are saying i think they are probly just under that "too loud" line. and the only thing i foresee myself getting possibly is the corsa x-pipe and keep the cats. you ever get pulled over for noise? thanks

I watched a TON of videos while researching exhaust options, but the problem is, you can't really judge how loud they are on most of the videos. Plus most of them are sitting in a driveway at idle and maybe goosing the gas a little

If you go with a catted X or H pipe, it would be fine, maybe even a bit better than stock. (Like I said, IMO they are just a bit too quiet now).

I have never been pulled over, and I have even been getting on it right by alot of cops ( I'm an electronic security/surveillance contractor, and I do alot of work at Columbus Police Department, so I'm always working around them and driving in and out of substation parking lots). I've even had several officers pull up to me on the street and tell me how good it sounds, and I've never even gottn a warning. Also, it doesn't really open up and get loud until you're into the throttle, so its easy to regulate the sound if you need to.

I love my lm's, they are not as loud as I though they would be. I got lucky and snagged a used set for $200, the guy still had them on his car so I got to hear them before I bought them.

I wouldn't worry about sound too much. I have a o/r H with Bassani exhaust and it is LOUD. As in I can set off car alarms loud if I wanted to yet I've never had a problem getting pulled over. Few times there's been a cop next to me, I keep my foot out of it and one complimented me on how the car sounded....

:)

And BradleyEm, I work downtown Columbus as well so I know how well the sound bellows off the buildings! High street just past the Nationwide plaze is always a favorite. :) Not to mention hundreds of people wandering around and 90% of em turn to see wtf that was....lol
