I would hate to scrap my 1991 winter beater just because I can't find a tie rod inner!

I bought a manual Flaming River rack five years ago and it has worked like a champ until the LH tie rod inner began to go bad.

I bought a replacement inner for a '79 manual rack, but it is no where near what the actual failed piece looks like. Most racks that I have seen have a large diameter male thread end on the rack. The inner tie rod end is a female thread sleeve on the rack end and the other end of this sleeve is the ball joint pivot for the inner rack.

The Flaming River inner was way different. The rack has the female threads and the tie rod inner has an M14 x 1.5 stud sticking out of the rack end of the tie rod inner.

What tie rod inners do I ask for when I go up to the auto parts store?

Have you already tried contacting Flaming River or Summit Racing? If they don't sell replacements, themselves, at least they might be able to point you in the direction of someone who does, along with the correct part number(s).
