Sorry guys haven't been able to get on here in awhile. Shortly after posting that thread, I was laid off and had other things on my mind then posting on here about that 5.0 Notch with the LS1 in it.

For the record, I don't, and would never put anything other then a Ford engine in a Mustang! The 66 A-Code that I had was all original and sold to a good friend of mine serving in Iraq. I currently have a 69 Boss 302 and my daily driver is a 1995 Nissan 240SX that I swapped a SR20 into. Just a fun car and nothing serious.

I don't care how fast they are or unique. I hate and cannot stand bastard swaps. Just wanted to see what the Mustang guys (what ones are on here) thought about this kinda stuff. Didn't want to start an arguement or anything. Thanks for your guys input.

Uhm. So you wouldn't be p.o'd if someone put a Honda engine in a Stang? Just because its fast?

I probably would be pissed, because it probably wouldn't be fast. Obviously there are boundaries. I'm talking about fast cars within the realm of reason. Turn the neon underbody lights off in your Nissan and stop thinking like a ricer. People have been slamming anything and everything between the shock towers of hot rods since before you (probably) or I was born. Hacking up cars is the essence of hot rodding. An LSX in a notch is not a sin in my book, neither is a BBC in a damn Fiesta.

A guy near me has a 950 horsepower Prelude with a full cage and slicks on the front. He isn't a ricer, he's a car guy who likes to go fast. There's an 850 hp Evo 8 and a 760 awhp white WRX STi near me too. A moron with a CRX and a fart can exhaust tip from autozone, now that's a different story. Like I said, fast is fast.

I hold no loyalty to Ford Motor Company, they do not own my car. I want to go fast. The foxbody is one of the best for going fast in a straight line, however the 5.0 engine in it is not the best engine out there. Yes.... I'm looking towards a Chevy engine. You can not beat the price advantage of a SBC, then consider that the LSx is far and beyond a old 5.0. Think about it, the V8 that's in the new camaro's can push that 4000lbs land yacht into the 12's with Road & Track's driver, imagine what it would do in a lightened foxbody? I have read that that engine with the emmsions equipment removed and converted to a carburator makes 500HP.

Now doing the swap just to do it, I don't know. I have nothing to prove.

Please and thank you in advance for dropping the "ricer" comments.

Back to adult land, just because a car is fast doesn't mean it should gain any respect. Hot-rodding is one thing. But dropping in another makes power into a Stang is just dumb. Really. If you want a SBC. Buy a Camaro. Its like people putting LS engines in RX7's. If I wanted a LS powered 2 seater, I'd buy a Vette. Same goes for Mustangs and Camaro's. Guess its just my up bringing in when guys had loyalty and pride in the make of their car. Now its just whatever makes it fast.

The LS engine does make a ton of power with few mods. I have two friends here in town with 2006 GTO's and a buddy with a 2001 SS Camaro. One GTO dyno'd 580HP with a 150shot of nitrous.

I guess my reasoning for posting the first thread was, this is a Mustang site and forum. I wouldn't have thought it was a universal site.

90mustangGT, why not look at all Ford has to offer in engines? There's a ton availiable (as I'm sure you already knew) and can achieve the same or more power then a SBC.

Eh. Thanks for your input guys.:)

I've been tossing around the idea of putting an LS1 into a 72 Charger roller I have. Course its a ways off cause I still have plans for my 91LX, my Dart, and my WRX. But a H/C/I LSX pushing the 500HP range with EFI and OD looks pretty good. Plus I love the sound of a cammed LS1. Course if that plan falls through I have a couple of 440's sitting in the corner I can always play with.

IBTL

Im a car guy, not a mustang guy, and it seems like every year mustang guys get a little more like mopar fairys.

just to clear this up, the LS motors can be build to make more power than any windsor motor for half the cost, thats why they are so popular. I feel like a chump for putting over 8k into my motor, when i could have went to the junkyard, got a 6.0 truck motorfor $1000, put a turbo on it and the car would be way faster. Im still happy with what ive got, but if you think i wont be buying another notch and putting a LS motor in it, then your nuts. I may just find an original 4 eye 5.0 and gut it and prime it for the LS swap

I wouldn't do it to my own car, too me a ford motor belongs in a ford but that is my opinion :flag:. If some other person wants to do it to their car who cares it's their car. It's pretty hard for people to throw opinions when they are looking at your tail lights but that said it's still going to get that nono nod by the diehards like myself which to be honest I would shake my head I will not lie but that shouldn't stop anyone from doing it.

If it was up to me id put an LS motor in everything, kia's, hondas, mazdas, whatever... i wish my subaru had one. :flag: so i guess im a little biased

There's something to be said for brand loyalty. But at the same time, it's ignorant to think that ford is the end all, be all of the automotive world. I love foxes just as much as everyone else here but that's not to say I don't admire other cars. I've got a friend who just finished a 5.0 swap into a miata. Now in my opinion, a miata is probably one of the ugliest and " girly" cars in existence but he likes them because they are ridiculously light, and who am i to tell him he can't put a 5.0 in it?

Point being, its fine to be a little bias towards mustangs, but don't ignore the rest of the world, there's a lot to be learned that doesn't involve ford, and you've got to appreciate someone with the skills to mix brands and make it work damn well

I love a nice looking car that sounds good. How u get there is up to you....

To me, now a days we arent in a position where we need to waste time bashing GM....or Chrysler....or Ford. The big 3 needs to be a united force to take out foreign cars. So yes, im against putting honda crap in an american body....but they can use our stuff all day long if they want. Take a RX-7 or something, i like the looks...and some muscle under the hood makes it even better.

its funny though....u never hear of many f-body/challenger guys talking about swappin in mustang drivelines. Not even the 03/04 cobra stuff. That must be for a reason...

Guess I'm just a purist. While I do give respect to those that get nice power outta any engine no matter make or size. I just can't give any to these kinda swaps.

Thanks again for your guys time and input. Extremely surprising really. :)

Actually man I have a Hot Rod mag that had a guy put a 5.0 into a 67 Camaro. Twin turbo'd. While the car performed awesome and was really fast, I can't give any props to that kinda swap. :notnice:

thats because it not very economical to do, the 03-04 cobra motors are sweet, but still at a premium for pricing, and alot of guys stay away from DOHC motors because they are more complicated, and harder to work on

I love my Fords and all, but that brand loyalty is highly immature. I love fast vehicles. Whether it's a Honda, a Chevy, Mopar, Ford, motorcycle, anything. There's a friend of mine around here with a K20 swapped EG Hatch, and he puts busses on 400rwhp ls1's around here. By the same token, There's another guy around here with a 1,000+ rwhp turbo 03 Cobra. He eats up goddamn liter bikes like it's nothing.

Hell, to be honest, if someone offered me an ls1 swapped notchback, I'd love it! Just don't offer me some riced out car (can be domestic OR import!).
