is $1200 good for a 92 lx hatch 5.0

ok... the car was mine, 5 yrs ago i sold it to a buddy who got ran off the road then ran into some money problems. the car has been sitting for 2 yrs in his back yard. it needs front bumper, left side fender, left side corner light, some door moulding, carpet, and a serious interior cleanning, hatch, O2 sensor extension harness, a couple ground wires, power stearing hose.
it has a new T-5 and 3.73 gears in it and a 5-lug conversion on the car, there is a cobra intake, new clutch, deep sump oil pan, and some other misc parts included but not installed. i know the car is straight, i believe it just needs some tlc. im going to look at it on fri or sat so im curious if you guys think 1200 is worth it. its a 5.0 with around 120,000 on it but it ran good when he parked it.

thanks for the help.

Could be, sounds like it needs some body work, and that can get expensive quick. Also be sure to look under the car and make sure the frame isn't tweeked.

IDK it looks like you may have $600-800 in repairs not including paint. So you will be around $2000 for the car. unless of course your get the bumper and fender used then maybe closer to $1500...... I would look long and hard at how much effort you want to put into it. $1500-$2000 and you are looking more at a decent fox that may need paint.......

thats one of the things im trying to figure out. ive been burning up craigslist and ebay. i was thinking about $800 or $1000 for the car depending on how much it costs to put it back together and get it runnung.
if i do get it ill start a build thread. lots of pics and details. i still have a few pics from when i first bought it around 6 years ago.

do you have any pics of it now? that would help us as well. overall it is what you think you should pay for it. When I bought my coupe I would have paid asking price if it came down to it but I snuck away with only giving $1500. Then $1.25 in vacuum hose and it runs great. so for $1501.25 I have a great running notch (which I have always wanted) that has a straight body and still has the air silencer in place.

you could find a few for the same price running condition and complete just search through your local classifieds. Im from the bay area i find tons for that price in good condition it depends on the seller and if they are the type to lower the price may take time but eventually youll get a lucky find.

but if worst comes worst thats your buddy if he could lower the price for you a few hundred i'd take it as a project to be worked on.

just my .02

if all it really needs is body panels(no frame damage) then I would talk him down on $$$. Otherwise it sounds like an ok deal but we need pics of it now. 1 head and head gasket for my $340 wonder. Went from having a cracked head to pulling 8.9 1/8th mile times. If all the mechanical stuff works great than do it

im going to try to get over there this weekend to take some pics. he thought about parting it out but were trying to keep it in the family. i dont mind having something i have to do a little work to, it gives me something to do at the house. i found some used parts on craigs list. i figure it will take about 3-4 weeks to get it going, then ill start the bodywork while i drive it. my last project was a 67 fastback that was tore down all the way, i had sell it because my wife had our son. that was the reason i sold thr 92 was to get the 67. so a little body work and paint isnt scary.

some pics

more pics. bumper cover is ok. this is the hatch rust and door to fender damage from a dog. he said this is all of the damage besides needing new carpet, a ground wire, and a harness that goes from the o2 sensor to the main wire harness. (not the o2 pigtail)

make sure you look at the seems around the hood and fenders to make sure there all even all the way around, if not it could have front end damage, thats where i went wrong when i was young and bought what look like a nice car but was really an overhalled pop can on wheels.
