Found a t 56 forsale. just the trans and crossmember. Came out of a 2000. not sure what it was in before. Just wondering a few things and searching was not helping.

What is all needed? And where can I find it with out breaking the bank?

crossmember

Bellhousing

Flywheel

Clutch, and fork

Drive shaft and output shaft

How will the speedo work

Also what is the ratings on a stock t 56, and is it even worth my time to piece this thing together. I was planning on a tko 600 after next year.

Thanks Dagz

The T-56 is a much nicer transmission than a TKO-600. The T-56 stock for stock is about the same strength wise as the TKO-600, but you can do a lot more to it internally to beef it up.

I'd love a T56... I've seen some on I think D&D that can handle around 800ft lbs of torque. For a 6 speed that may save you some gas mileage on the highway, that ain't bad!

Thanks guys, any one else have any thoughts or idea on where to get the parts to piece together my own kit?
Not sure how much power you plan on putting down, but I believe it's D&D that sells a full swap kit for around 4 grand. It comes with a decently built T56, custom aluminum DS, bellhousing, and a shifter. If you want to do it right, this seems like the way to go.

just be sure the t56 has the .50 6th....

a few dont and they have like a .62 or something which is on par with every 5speed.

Precisely!!!!!

If you get the .62 or .68 6th, you have the same high gear as a 5 speed, yet have to shift one more time to get there :nonono:

I plan on doing a T-56, but it needs to have a .50 OD or there is no purpose in doing it.. I'll probably also have to go back to 3.73's..

I'd really like to be able to have the off the line performance I have now, coupled with cruising at 2200 rpm at 80 on the highway :nice:

:D too many guys automatically think 6speed = great MPG. If they looked closer on DD's site....they'd see that wonderful .50 overdrive gear is not all that popular.

what gears do u have back there now?
