Interesting Rattle

I had some work done on the car today, they H pipe was removed.

We got everything put back together, all is well. But it seems when the car is cold (first started) there is a rattle that lasts a few seconds then vanishes. Sometime it happens right when the car is started, sometimes I have to drive a few feet and hit the brakes; before it starts.

It isnt even really a rattle, just like a really really fast tin on tin noise. I look under the car and have the ol lady rev it up, and nothing.

The car seems to be fine while driving.

just wanted to get your intput on the issue before I bring it back to them on Monday.

Once again, MRT H-pipe with Cats.

Thanks guys!

I don't know if its the same thing but when I start my car cold, I let it sit a few seconds before the revs die down. While the revs die down, there is a metallic buzzy noise that sounds like a heat shield or something and it disappears as the revs drop. I never did anything about it. Just took it in stride. Granted I didn't do any exhaust work.

And just how close are you getting while honey is revving it up? Be safe. :D

People that can't figure out what a rattle is just amaze to me. I think you should pour a gallon of gas in the passenger compartment and light it on fire. That will cure your problem, for sure.

I see no reason for this post... I drive a 95 GTS with a few creaks and rattles. Havn't figured all of them out yet, and I hate to say it but your 'constructive criticism' isn't helping at all.

Ok let me give you my situation. I have one hell of a time changing my oil because i have a jack, that doesnt fit under my car, I have to drive on wood, then bricks...THEN I can jack it up.

I watched them install the H-pipe, nothing was touching, the rattle only happens upon start up, and sometimes doesnt.

I have laid under the car, with it jacked up, started it, reved it. - since it only happens when it wants, it make it tough -OK

I would like to say I have tried to find the rattle - It sounds up near the headers/upper H.

And I don't understand your gallon of gas theory, I would assume that would solve nothing....

+1
Oh, and WindFarmer if I sounded out of place in my last line, sorry.

Just a suggestion, check at the back of the car, where your hangers for the mufflers are, when i put my x on it pushed my axleback far enough into the hangers that it rattled against the frame on startup and while driving and decellerating around 2k rpms. Check for clearance back there.
Oh and shocker, another negative post from oh9.

You know, we've discussed your attitude, yet the negativity continues. How many infractions do you need before you figure it out? I'm not sure, but you're getting two weeks off regardless. If your attitude doesn't improve when that's over, it'll be a month next time.
