Reviews of MM's Panhard Bar?

I have been thinking about purchasing MM's PHB. I realize that this is a big step in the AutoX setup I have been moving my car towards. How easy are they to install, what kind of changes should I also do at the same time? In the future the car will be seeing a MM K member, A arms, Coilovers and their XD LCA's way down the road when I build a motor for it.

I currently have FLSFC's that were welded in by a local speed shop. He is a reputable welder and drag racers shop. They are the rectangular kind modeled after Steeda's FLSFC's and they replaced the stock bolt ins on my car.

I know I need the one for rectangular FLSFC's, but what kind of difference will the installation of a PHB be handling wise? I know I have Vogtland springs, but I think I will be purchasing a rear set of springs (or a full used set,) because one spring sits approx. 1/4 inch higher that the other rear one.

How easy are these to install? Would it be worth it to add it now to my car? Most likely, I will just take it to the guy that has done almost all of my suspension recently.

I am thinking about adding these at the same time;

03/04 Cobra Steering Wheel (my stocker is eaten up)
MM Urethane Rack Bushings
MM Panhard Bar
Steeda Sports/H&R Super Sports/H&R Race/Eibach Sportlines
Steeda Underdrive pulleys

PHBs aren't specific to subframe connectors. Are you thinking about a Torque arm setup?

Don't change springs to get a level ride (most are off a bit anyway). If you do change springs, do for a different spring rate. I recommend you get a set matched by the manufacturer (front and rear).

Mine was intalled as part of a package, but I feel it was worth it just to eliminate the "wiggle" the stock set up has. They are not super hard to install, drilling the frame was the most aggravating part of all of it.

Yes, I was getting the installation needs of a PHB and TA setup confused.

But I still want to know if a PHB setup, without a TA, is a worthy improvement for a now daily driver.

I am looking for a new spring setup nonetheless, the Vogtlands were good for my stock car without anything else like the adjustable shocks, bumpsteer, balljoints and that sort of stuff.

I had it on my daily driver, and it was great. Rear end becomes very predictable, the PHB and LCAs controlled most of the unwanted rear axle motion, more rear end grip, less "wandering" of the rear end.

My set up was: H&R SS springs, Bilsteins, MM FLSFC, MM LCA, MM PHB, MM CC plates.

I'm going to second that opinion. I have the same setup but with Steeda Sport Springs. I autox'd my car last summer without the PHB and it felt much less predictable than it did this summer with it on the car. I feel much more confident in corners with it on the car now. For the price, it is a great investment. :nice:

Griggs racing actually makes a better setup for a torque arm and panhard bar for our cars. I have done a lot of research on both manufactures. on the griggs TA you dont have to cut your exhaust to make it fit. With a TA you can loose the upper control arms and run it as a 3 link set up. After my motor is in this is what i will be doing with my rear end. You wont regret the investment of running both of those pieces.

Sorry, I dont have a review yet, but I just installed the MM PH bar setup on my 00gt.

I track my car often so it was kinda necessary. But driving around town, it feels good. Solid.

You should not change to many things at once. Leave the springs, install the PH bar, and take it from there.

I had a shop install mine. Cost me $150. and I feel it was worth every penny. You do NOT want to do this on your back... I assure you that. Can you?? sure, but after seeing all the measuring, etc... No way would I do it myself. just my opinion.

Good luck, go for it!!

I installed the MM PHB on my '98 in approx. 11 hrs. myself. Not a bad install overall, just time consuming. No other mods are necessary. Just follow the steps 1 by 1.
Very predictable handling. Feels very tight. Should have been an OEM part from '79 up.....

From what I've read, you can run tailpipes with the MM panhard bar. I'm also looking into doing this on my 95, so the suspension setup should be the same between both. I'll probably be ordering mine within the next month or so. If I do it before you guys, I'll be sure to copy you guys on the install process. :nice:

There is a good write up on the corral. Take plenty of pics of yours and post up.

Stock = fine. Most A/M = not fine :)

I second this statement, but both me and a buddy of mine have the MM PHB on our cars (my GT and his Mach 1) with a SLP LM2 catback and have no problems. It took a little adjusting here and there, but the SLP system is in several parts, so it can be adjusted enough to clear the PHB with no issues. :nice: My Magnaflow system had no chance without major tailpipe modification.
