Is it possible to run a 12.40 with a 100shot and stock tires?

I am thinking of getting a 100 shot...everything else is stock down to the tires and was wondering if my driving skills imporove if it is possible for a mid to low 12 witht the stock rubber?

While anything is possible, the stock tires will likely not be sticky enough to run 12.40's with just a 100-shot. Even on drag radials, that would equate to a high 12 second car - not a low 12 second car - so I would guess 12.70's at best for a 100% stock GT with a 100-shot if you got really lucky with traction.

For comparison, my 07 GT runs 12.30's with a 150-shot (supercharger, not nitrous), 4.10 gears, big converter, and drag radials. On factory tires, I would be lucky to run high 12's (although I've never tried the blower at the track with factory tires).

With stock tires, perfect track prep, perfect weather conditions, it might be possible to break into the 12s, but I'm with Brian on the stock rubber not having enough grip. There would be almost no way it could be done if your hitting the juice off the line! I've seen many F/I cars running street radial tires and have a hard time getting less than 12.7-12.9s... You'd be much better off spending about $500-600 on a set of DRs and two wheels and then you just may see 12.4 or better with the 100 shot.

I was on the fence on buying a ZEX kit with the stock tires. I ended up passing and buying a pair of ET bias ply streets. I thought to myself I would have zero traction down the 1/4 so I bought the tires.

I just ran a 12.8@108 with 4.10s, o/r h, intake/tune, upper/lower control arms, and the tires.
