dodge truck guys?

really as far as im concerned my truck is everything i could want, im able to tow 16k lbs easy, and yes i do it quite often, runs a 9.4 in the 8th, has a dana 80 rear end, sure the transmissions can be troublesome if you dont have a proper tune on the truck but other than that i cant complain about a sinlge thing in my truck, 165k and ive only had to replace 3 sensors, ever, and ford trucks can be had with cummins engines try out destroked.com they offer those conversions, and im sorry the cummins engines no longer compare to the new 6.4l power stroke i know a few people personally who are running over 500hp on just a tune alone, and those trucks can tow 26k lbs no sweat

If you want a nice tuner only diesel, then a powerstroke would be fine. But The problem with the 7.3L is the rods aren't worth anything past 450whp. The 6.0L craps head gaskets like no other.
The 6.4L responds like crazy to a tuner and exhaust, but you void your warranty by deleting the EGR and DPF to do it.

If I was going to buy a diesel trucks from 1995 to 2007 model years, it would be with the 5.9L. :flag:

true on certain year they are only good to around 450hp but the 99-early 2001 7.3 are good for 1000hp since they have forgeed internals, 02-03 were total crap, the 6.0 lacks the head pressure from ford being cheap on the head bolts and simply needs head studs to push out 450rwhp on a tune intake and exhaust, the 6.4 even a tuner voids the warranty just like any of the new diesels, and the older trucks just as much needs to be removed in order to make power so its a catch 22 no matter how you look at it, what it comes down to is if you want a diesel you really cant go wrong either way they all have there strengths and weaknesses

nope its not, its a ford but its a 6.0L. I would have bought a 7.3L F250 or 350 but there all overpriced, imo the dodge is a better value and gets better mileage.

i cant comment on the cummins mileage as i dont know what they a getting, personally my truck gets 12mpg in the city and 20mpg on the highway(extreme race tune) im sure it would get better mileage if i could keep my foot out of it, but i cant

The 7.3 powerjokes are alright the bodies are junk, 6.0's are pretty much junk all around, 6.4's have a lot of problems. Cummins is a great engine. Dodge is a pile, so everything on the truck falls apart. The ford and dodges rot out like no other. I settled with my truck 04 chevy 2500. This year has injector issues which are warrentied on it for another few years. They seem real reliable but comparing to my dads 05 f350 6.0 it cant handle the weight nearly as good. No its not the 3/4vs1 ton difference either. I have had my truck for 2 years so far, about 23k miles and all is well. Will pull anything I need it to and never lets me down. This is all opinion btw not looking to start a big diesel war.

Not following you, which brand? I just said they all have problems basicly. I am not going to get involved with what the 6.4 has troubles with, you should already know if your a ford diesel guy anyways. I just went to a powerstroke class at my local ford dealer, the guy running the show explained why the 6.0's had a lot of problems, reminded everyone that the 7.3 wasent perfect and got into the 6.4's a little. Enough to make me stay away. Pretty much the whole thing the guy was trying to say was many of the 6.0 problems were caused by the fact the goverment was supposed to mandate 45 ceteane minimum, which clearly they never did. So he suggested using some motorcraft additive, then suggested every other motorcraft thing in the world and bashed every other brand. Pretty much to sum everything up with it, its a huge design flaw. After I saw a EGR system apart in person I couldnt believe how stupid its setup. Clearly theres more issuses besides egr and ceteane also.

BTW I know 3 people with 6.4's. Each one has been back to the dealer atleast 10 times one had the body off 6 times also. None have over 20k miles. Quality vechiles.

i do know that the very early releases were rushed and they should have held them back a few months but obviously didnt, the 6.4s from the second batch are far better than the first batch and as ive said before i know 6 or 7 people with 6.4's and 3 of them are pushing over 500rwhp on tunes alone, 6.0 in stock ford is crap yes, but in moddified race trim does much better only because the owners generally build them up away from how ford intended them to be clean, yes the later model 7.3 werent perfect and its only cause the bean counters wanted to stop putting forged internals in them cause it was alot cheaper, but im not sure what that has to do with the trucks themselves, anywho im done arguing this is a stang site not a diesel site, if you wanna argue some more you can feel free to pm me

There really isn't anything more reliable than a 12 valve Cummins backed by the NV4500 trans, and if you get a '94-'98 Dodge with the P7100 pump on it there isn't gonna be anything to take care of but the KDP (Killer Dowel Pin). As far as the Dodge body "falling apart," well, it hasn't on mine. My '94 has actually had no issues with anything but the front suspension, and that's just been the typical track bar issue that has a ton of upgrades now. It's also coming up on 230k miles.

PowerStrokes are a joke, all of them. Ford finally is designing their own diesel (code named the Scorpion) that is supposed to fix all the issues they were having with International. Ford was tuning the old engines to put out more power than International ever intended them to make and in the end a lawsuit was actually filed over the 6.0L as to whose fault it was.
