Cobra badges with Roush body kit

If you dont mind ... creating online arguements between 12 year olds on youtube .

"zOMG, today i saw a new roush cobra, it looked so kewl"
"DmBASS! their is No Rosh CObra!"
"Yahuuh, i saw it with my own eyes, the owner Says its uh 10 second car"
"DUDe i cant wait to tell my stupid friends! But a suprah is like wayyyy better because its a small motor and makes like 856 hp!!!"'
"Ricerz are stoopid, what a n00b"
...etc

So my vote would be a "not a good idea"

This is so true... :rlaugh:

Why else list every mod and track time in your sig ? We all do it, we love our cars. I may absolutely hate someone's taste in cars, but I'd never ridicule them, I'm thinking most people here wouldn't either.

Many post their mods and track times, so that others can see how a certain vehicle performs in a certain way, given those mods. Our car is a project car...it's not driven for fun...it's not a street car anymore. I get PMs (mostly on other forums) about this mod and that mod listed in my sig. Not that many are looking for 9s cars, but many would like a 12 or 11s stang and start looking at sigs that reflect that type of performance.

As a far as ridicule. Absolutely it happens. You put a poser Cobra emblem on a non-cobra, you will be laughed at...maybe not to your face, but ridiculed just the same. The OP suspected this...just kinda wanted confirmation is all.

I would personally say no as it's not a Cobra, but it is your car and what you like is what ultimately counts. I don't see how just a body kit could justify a iconic higher powered Stang badge:shrug: It would be different if you put a Roush blower on it with Cobra emblems, but still, I wouldn't do it...

Eventhough I have the Cobra front, I didn't want the Cobra badging and stuck with the traditional running pony for the fenders and the grille, but that is what I like:nice:

Like kooldawg, I really like the clean look of the cobra front, and that is probably the direction that I'll go eventually, but I wouldn't put cobra badges on. There is a difference between customizing a car to your liking and trying to make it look like something that it's not. I'll have to get some pics of a V6 SN95 that I see around here that has a big Cobra hood ornament and various other badges on it...it's absolutely rediculous :jaw:

I prefer the running pony side emblems over the GT emblems. Think I'll buy a couple and replace mine.

Modding your car is like masturbating.

Do what YOU like..

I put Bullitt wheels on my car, but its not a Bullitt. Same with people who put Saleen or Fr 500 wheels on thier cars but they don't have a Saleen or FR500, are they posers?
How about Shelby stripes?
How about a hot girl with silicone boobies is she a poser? (Maybe) but you still wanna go out with her?

Thats' not posing. You like the Bullitt wheels enough to put them on your car...but would you really put the Bullitt faux gas cap and other emblems with the word Bullitt on your car...that's posing.

hardly, adding Bullitt wheels is just like adding a Bullitt, or Cobra badge. Why put stripes on your car ? Cause it looks good to the owner. You guys are all so hang up on worrying about whether someone is a poser or not you're missing the whole thing that makes owning and fixing up your car so much fun. What's the difference of adding some exterior mods to make your car look better, and spending a fortune on making it faster. It's different for different people. Nobody's vision of the hot rod hobby is the same. Just because you have a different opinion from someone doesn't make you right or wrong. It's just different.

I do have to agree with that.

how i'm currently rocking the stang.

The only way to ever keep yourself from being called a poser would be to leave your car stock. There are plenty of people on the site with GT 500 wings/fascias, Roush body parts, Saleen wheels, stripes, and I could go on all day. We put these things on our cars because we like the way they look or make our car perform. I don't see how putting a Cobra badge on a GT is a problem but a GT 500 wing is a cool upgrade. OP you can do whatever you want to make your car your own, because that's what owning these cars is about.

I know you don't.

I do know this...cause I've seen it happen more than once at car shows/meets. If he parks his cobra-badged non cobra near a real cobra...he will be laughed at, sneered at, or worse. Should not make a difference maybe, should not matter maybe, his car... he can do what he likes blah blah blah blah....but this is how humans behave...sooner or later it will happen.

Which is why I said at the beginning of my post that the only way to avoid it is leave it stock.

since we can't control how anyone but how we behave, maybe we can start by not ridiculing him or calling them 'poser badges' ? If I don't ridicule him, and you don't ridicule him, that's 2 of us. It usually takes 1 person to start then the rest of humanity follows that lead. A group of 5 guys are at a car show. 1 guys starts laughing at 'poser badges', then the other 4 join in, because they too are humans and they're followers. But if that 1 person didn't, the others wouldn't either.

We're here because we're Mustang fans. Someone got us into the car hobby. We need to take the high road and be more of a mentor to young, or inexperienced people just coming to the hobby.

You have an awesome car, you've spent a huge amount of time and money on it. You deserve to be proud of it. You had some help and learned some things by yourself. You asked dumb questions. I know I've asked my share, still do.

The more people that become interested in the hobby the better it is for all of us. The manufacturers make more performance cars. The accessories people sell more bling. The sport grows, we all benefit. With all the tree huggers pushing for more prius' we could become an endangered species like we almost did in the early 70's. Remember when a Cobra Mustang was a Cobra because it had stickers on it ? Those days sucked. We're seeing a resurgence in hp and handling that personally I don't want to lose again.

I'm not saying you're pushing anyone away, not saying you're ridiculing the op. But all of us, as ambassadors to the sport need to be more welcoming and kind to the newbies.

OK, off my soapbox. :flag:
