Ok,

I have searched the bowels of the internet to no avail (including this site). I cannot get the specs for the measurements for the inner fender aprons/radiator support etc for a 1969 mustang. I have mine squared up pretty well (1mm off n diagonals).

I am wondering if anyone has the measurements for 1969 mustang engine compartment. I would like to tie things up this evening if possible.

Second question. Would the shop manual have these dimensions?

Ok I know somebody out there besides me has a 1969 or 70 mustang.

I need a few diagonals from the corners and a width across the radiator support. It looks like Ford has a 1/4 to 1/2" margine for error, but I really wan't to make sure I get everything squared up.

- Diagonal from inside to inside corners.

- Width across radiator support to outside edges of inner fenders.

- A single measurement from center grommet (about where the export braces attach) center hood to inside radiator support edge.

Once these are posted people will have this information to spread around the internet.

I would suggest contacting restoration shops. I would measure mine for you but I have no idea if mine is still close to spec. I'm sure mine has moved some over the past 40 years. I will be installing a MII type IFS sometime in the future before I put it on the road. I was planning at that point to take measurements and determine the correct location of some key connection points to ensure everything is square and aligned. If I get the time today I'll take a couple of measurements.

I would measure mine, but its been hit in the front. I have to do the same thing you are.

If I recall correctly the shop manual has dimensions for the frame rails, not the aprons. I'll try to remember to check tonight.

In my opinion, if you're at 1 mm on the diagonals then you're good. There's enough movement in the fender mount points to adjust around that easily. I would make a few spot welds to what you've got now, and then test fit your fenders and hood.

I think I have a PM with some measurements waiting for me at home. Unfortunately the new hood, fenders, quarters, and floor have not arrived yet.

There looks like ford has about 1/2" of play on everything so I doubt their measurements will be as exact as mine will be. Once I get everything squared and spot welded I will post my final measurements for everyone to enjoy.

Honestly my biggest concern is they horrible quality control on the stamped holes on the radiator support. They are off by over 1/2" from either side. It looks like Tiawan has struck again. Looking at the reminent of my smashed (old) components it is difficult to determine exactly if they are flush or slightly out (about 2mm) from the edge of the radiator support. I really want the measurement across the radiator support to the outer edge of the inners. Everything else will square up after that.

Thanks
Mike

OK,
57.25" right side from apron doubler at firewall diagonally to Left front at radiator support.

57.75" left side from apron doubler at firewall diagonally to right front at radiator support. (right front apron sits outboard slightly due to battery tray)

41.625" center firewall at hole plug to forward edge of radiator support top flange.

40.125" inner width from front apron to front apron at radiator support. (my fenders are still on)

Hope that helps you some.

I just went ahead and squared everything up and welded her up last evening. I must have missed your mail.
It looks like our measurements are very very close.

I am including pictures for the future internet surfers hoping to find some of this information.

I took 8 measurements, but really only these apply due to the inconsistent nature of aftermarket inner fenders.

1) Center of cowell above hole plug center (very very top edge). 42"
Note: If i measure at the top edge of the plug I am at 41.6" (The cowell edge angles towards radiator the lower you measure near the plug)

2) Center of hole on Tab Passenger side ti the outer edge of radiator support and fender apron. Repeated for Driver Side. 64 1/4" Both - Nice! (i slipped just a tad when taking the picture. Trust me it is 64 /14 dead on where the corner would be if the rad support and inner met. The radiator support edge was cut short by someone in taiwan.

Note to self: only buy Dynacorn parts. These were the only non-dynacarn parts I have...learn from my mistakes grasshoppers.

All of the other measurements squared nearly identically. I chose not to post them to avoid confusing others with exact locations.

I will edit this post and add a few more measurements later this week.
