Hey guys. I am converting to a single turbo set up on my 2002 gt. I used to have an allen blower but the system isnt great for much over 350 rwhp. I am aiming to produce roughly 400-420 horse at 10psi but no more due to stock motor. (i understand forged internals are a must at some point) I am considering the turbonetics 62-1 .68 A/R and the turbonetics t04E stg V .68 A/R. According to the turbonetics turbo matrix, both of these turbos will produce the power i need, my concern however is spool time. i am concerned that with the 62-1 i will be getting too much lag, but on the other hand i am concerned that the
t04E will limit me. which one should i go with? also the car is a street/strip car but mostly street. any help would be greatly appreciated.

My T70 spools before 4k at full boost so your T62 should spool 2700-3k rpm. Which turbo kit are you getting ? Turbo is a different animal then what you used to with supercharger. Once you go turbo then you will be always a turbostang. Turbo FTMFW, here is my youturbo. My motor blew on august 28th and getting forged block build soon.

The T04E is a compressor I would like to have for my 2.3. I think it will be too tiny for your 4.6, even with that huge stage 5 exhaust side. Looking at the compressor map, it may not get you to 400rwhp at 10psi... and would be way out of its efficiency.

Personally, I'd recommend the 60-1 or 62-1. The 62-1 would give you plenty of breathing room, but slightly slower spool, but the 60-1 may be a little less controllable on the street with boost coming in quickly.

Man I have a T-64 on my 04 GT and it spools by 2500 with around 5lbs all the way to the top. Mine has a .81 exhaust housing on it and made great power. Enough to cost me an engine after a huge boost creep problem killed it in April.

I am building a 4V now and plan on using a T-76 on the 4V. Once you go turbo you will always want that power..

hey guys. sorry to bring up an old thread but i have one more question. I have decided to go with the 62-1 rather than the 60-1. but my question is this. Should i go for the p trim or the stage V. im not sure what the benefits of either would be.
thanks for the help.

yes i have heard of them. i think they are most suited for vehicles that dont have enough underhood room. ide hate to see that system have to go through a heavy rain storm. or down a dusty road. I am deff going with the traditional set up. just trying to figure out p trim or stage 5. any help?

Yah i know im looking into joining the turbo fam my self. I looked at STS and was thinking about routing my intake back up front. Don’t really want to cut my SLP exhaust. I would go with the Stage 5 but on thing to consider is emissions. Dose the state you in live by them like its on the written on your forehead. That’s the only thing that has stopped my from dropping Stage 2 or 3 heads and cams in my BlackStallion.

The car will have a single cat for the day it gets tested. and all of the egr and emission accessories will remain on the vehicle. not to mention the car is going to be professionaly retuned so im not too worried about passing the test
What is your reason for recomending stage 5?

Yeah helln is a good kit, however, its like 6 grand. and i have all the tools and skill to build a kit that is just as good as their kit for around 2 grand. realisticaly i cant justify buying that kit wheni can make my own

it looks like the P-trim or Stage 5 designation from Turbonetics is an indicator of exducer(compressor wheel) diameter. P-trim is 65mm and Stage 5 is 62mm. In addition, apparently the P-trim is from the T4 family, and the Stage 5 is from the T3 family.

According to Turbonetic's catalog, you want the smallest wheel that supports the horsepower desired. They claim a 62mm turbine diameter (Stage 5) supports 550hp, while a 65mm (P-trim) supports 750hp.

So it would look like you want the Stage 5.
